When on earth was Langer lbw to Kumble? Do you mean the one where he was a full stride out of the crease?

The Zaheer one was close, but probably would have missed leg.

edit: It should be noted that both Zaheer and Kumble have been bowling brilliantly since the drinks break. Langer in particular has struggled a lot, although he's hanging in there reasonably well considering the quality of the bowling.

And just as I type this Zaheer gets him out...

I thought Katich has struggled as well (though I'm not watching, just screaming whenever India gets a wicket...). Oh well, perfect Marto moment I suppose :)

No, the one where it was pitched on middle and off and Langer stayed in the crease pretty much. The one with Zaheer - I would agree with you EXCEPT it hit Langer when was inside the crease. On both occaisons (yes, it was an Aussie commentator on as well :) ) the commentators thought it was out FWIW.
My point, BTW, was not to comment on the umpiring but to show that the openers were a bit lucky (sort of like Sehwag is when he scores a century) that some of the touch and go decisions and balls between fielders etc. :)

And now Kumble gets Katich. Australia in real trouble now and while the pitch is doing a little bit there's not that much in it.

Lehmann, Martyn and Clarke have to stand up and get Australia to a decent score now, particularly Lehmann given that the remainder of his career might well be on the line.

Katich gone ! Excellent catch by Chopra - ball dropping like that and short is always hard - made it look easy ! Welcome back, Chopra !

WOOOHOOO!

Zaheer is totally redeeming himself from the first test, and first innings of the second. Kumble is bowling brilliantly as well. 3 down, Hayden, Langer and Katich all out. Things are looking good.

Still a good batting wicket. Looks true with even bounce. This will be crunch time for Murali - can he keep the pressure up when he comes to bowl ?

Also, I'm so happy that Chopra is back in the side in place of Yuvraj. He's a much better opener, and with Kaif in the team, he can replacy Yuvraj's athletic fielding and Chopra can field bat pad.

Disappointing that Pathan and Harbhajan are out, but I'm quietly (very quietly) kind of pleased that Ganguly is not playing. Don't tell anyone that though, because I'm a Ganguly fan :whistling

Oh and Sachin is back :D :notworthy

You have it backwards. I would keep secret the part about being a Ganguly fan and speak loudly about being happy that the Indian batting is stronger without him. :)

Stronger with Kaif in place of Ganguly? I'd rate the two as about equal...

What was up with that appeal from Kumble? The ball pitched outside off, turned away and struck him even further outside off. A bit of a shout I could understand given that no shot was offered, but Kumble screamed like it was hitting halfway up middle and looked shocked when the umpire didn't even give it a second glance.

I dont know why some guys are going on about this being a sporting wicket. Do they mean that a pitch which gives equal opportunity to both batsmen as well as spinners is not a sporting wicket ? Are spinners not bowlers too ? Some people seem to be stuck with a mentality that if the fast bowlers go for plenty , it isnt a good wicket , even though the spinners may have done well .

Wrong ball. I always record all the matches - and if you do too, I can go back and tell you whcih over it happened in. It doesn't seem relevant any more seeing that he is gone :)

Errm. I'm talking about the LBW appeal against Martyn in the second last over before lunch. And last I checked, Martyn isn't gone. ;)

The 5th ball of the 24th over, to be exact.

Boycott said the other day that Chopra is the best short leg fielder in the world today. Then he paid him the ultimate compliment by comparing him with Solkar !! :thumbup1:

Sorry I thought you were still beating me up for my previous post re: Langer. :)
I agree with you on the Martyn lbw. After the replay I was wondering why Kumble continued to appeal ? I suppose that's why we have umpires :)
