But even factoring in Sachin's dismissal the game was India's to lose. It just required a bit of fight from Jadeja and the tail. That's where the blame lies.
Agree with all but this. Middle order went to ****s. They scored 23 runs between them. Jadeja, Kumar and Nehra scored 33.

Gavaskar called it a mile off and for good reason as Jadeja was backing up a mile for every ball. Jadeja needs to grow some balls and realise he is not playing school cricket anymore - you simply cannot steal 10 yards without the opposition noting and taking your wicket.
This + T20 World Cup disaster vs. England is showing that perhaps intl cricket is too much for him right now.

Can't handle the pressure.

Cannot believe that Fox Sports freaking missed Praveen's 6. Was crazy.

Epic finish though, I left my room to go to the college common room to watch the last few overs - got there just before Sachin got out. I don't think people should be so quick to criticise the Indian lower order, btw; don't forget that numbers 3 to 5 scored a total of 23 runs. Thought McKay bowled really well too, and more importantly kept his cool in the field. Was really good presence of mind from White to throw the bowl to McKay instead of just having a shy at the stumps for Jadeja's run out.

BTW those of you are criticizing Tendulkar's shot, how many players can you think of who played through the entire innings of a close 300+ chase? It may have happened a few times but it's vanishingly rare. Because almost inevitably the combination of fatigue and pressure will induce a tired shot and players will get out before the end. That goes double for someone at Sachin's age.

6 wickets in hand.. 50 runs of around 8 overs with 5 overs of powerplay and both set batsman playing....... 8 out 10 times batting team would be expected to win.
Well it was not 50 runs in 8 overs, the way I look at it it was 350 runs in 50 overs that too against an Aussie side. First of all only 1 out of 1000 teams will reach that close and it is a monumental error on fans to just forget that. I can't ignore the epic performance for 47 overs and and concentrace on what happened in last 3 overs.

Thoughts on McKay's first outing from those who watched? 3 wickets seems like a great first match.
Looked solid overall, was impressed with him since i saw him for Victoria in the CL a few weeks back. But of course still disappointed Nannes wasn't called up instead.

Well obviously it would have helped if the middle order had clicked though of course they have clicked in other games. That doesn't excuse the tail. Jadeja was set and had to take responsibility to take India home. Praveen did OK until that final run-out where his non-dive was inexcusable. India would have still had a half-decent chance with those two runs. Nehra of course was useless but no one expects any better.

ANyone realise how close White's dropped catch off Raina went to costing Australia the game?

When he dropped it it looked like it wouldn't matter.

Dhoni telling it like it is.

We lost in the mental aspect of the game, not talent.

Good captain.

Go and teach Jadeja a lesson now.
Indeed. IND really should have won, if you compare what SA did when they chased down 434, they handled the pressure at the end brilliantly.

Yeah... he's only 20 as well...... Doesn't look ready for this level just yet.

Not only can he not handle the pressure, but he is an integral part of a five bowler strategy that simply does not work.

19 to win off 17 balls, you shouldn't be trying funky shots. Play straight, play smart, get the singles and win the game. Simple enough.

I would have given anything if this had happened in the WC 2003 finals. Losing by 7 runs chasing 354 would have been the stuff of legends.
