*Official* Australia in India - ODIs

Sylvester

State Captain
The selectors like picking for the future and they have invested quite a bit in Henriques by bringing him on A tours and AIS games and even throwing him a token T20I game. I can see why the selectors want him given his big hitting abilities and handy bowling option and he would be ideal for the number 7 spot to come in and give it a whack. The question mark about both him and Hopes at 7 is when the going gets tough will they deliver.

Harbhajan Singh’s bowling

He is an experienced bowler. He’s not bowling at his best but still bowling well. Everyone goes through such a patch. He loves challenges and can always bounce back. We have confidence in him. He’s spending ample time at the nets and working hard. He’s batting well but we would like to see him bowling better…

Praveen Kumar

He bowled well with the new ball in Vadodara. It was just that some of the edges didn’t carry to the slip fielder. If you look at the replays you’ll see he bowled much better than what the scorecard shows.

Good to see him talk straight like he always does and not lose confidence in Praveen Kumar on the basis of one match.

Watch out for

Yuvraj Singh: On his day, Yuvraj is among the most destructive one-day batsmen, and his days tend to happen more often at home than abroad. Yuvraj averages 43 at a strike-rate of nearly 95 while playing in India, compared to an average and strike-rate of 39 and 84 overseas. In his last one-day series in India, he devastated England, hammering 325 runs in five innings at a strike-rate of nearly 130.

Also,

"We have not been great with our death bowling. If you see the last game, the first few overs - 42nd over onwards - it was good and in the 50th we gave away one run. In between there was a span of four overs when we gave away 50-52 runs."
MS Dhoni knows India's bowling at the end of the innings is a problem.

Praveen Kumar retains his spot as I expected him to.

Really interesting game on our hands with due factor in the second inning. Australia chosing to bowl.

It really doesn't matter what may or may not have happened if Henriques was playing for another country. He's playing for Australia, and at this point in time there are at least 3/4 better options to play in the position he'll likely play.
No they aren't.

If the options if i presume you are suggesting are McDonald, Christian, Butterwoth. McDonald clearly not (really shocked at how ppl rate this guy) & although i have not seen the other two, i dont see too much consensus from CW australian members nor much media talk about them as serious international candidates.

Not sure why you ever said he "deserved to be picked" if you agree with what I say though :S
He does deserve to be picked to play @ 7 given that Hopes is out. As poster Sylvester said the question mark around him given the selectors have fast tracked him - is will he deliver in the tough situation.

Solid start by Sehwag again. I have a feeling he will not score big again though and it will be Tendulkar who will make runs.

Great to see Tendulkar fail, and see that elfin **** Gambhir cop one early. Really can't wait to see him bat in Brisbane and Perth.

Sehwag looking good though. Top shot that one worked to leg there.

Given Hilf's selection, it makes you wonder whether the Oz selectors actually watch any cricket

Yeah, can't see that he's done much in the ODI format tbh.

Edit: some really quick stuff from Sids here - up over 150 to Sehwag and just giving the short stuff to Gambhir. Hope he scones him tbh.
