Have to say Jadhav could have played that better, the plan was rather obvious with richardson.

Have to say that's some high risk high reward bowling at the death. Been impressive, though I feel Indian batsmen could have played them better.

Man, I just don't think the batting order is right. Dhoni easily could've scored the 41(40) that Hardik did... it makes no sense to keep Dhoni down at 7 for a big chase.

They need to think about this and be flexible. If the top order collapses, send Dhoni ahead of Hardik. If it's a big chase and more than 20 overs are eft, send Dhoni up. Otherwise it hurts the team and wastes Hardik's hitting ability.

Quality bowling from Australia though, has to be said.

Hardik doesn't need to bat up the order, there's just no need for that.

He's not someone who needs time to get set and then explode at the end. He can do it from the get go, something which India's been lacking in recent years. Just when we get some finishing power we've gone and ****ed with it. I can only hope this was an experiment.

well said. I guess they were banking on a 60(30) from Pandya. And tbh for a moment it looked like happening. He didn't go for that 3rd six... his trademark move

BCCI didn't want to piss off CA by whitewashing Australia, so they threw them a bone by picking our 2nd string attack.

Did Stoinis get injured? Didn’t finish his fifth over, going by the scorecard.

Groin issue bowling his second over, was surprised he came back but the Aussies were out of options with a depleted attack and spinners getting whacked.

Whatever it takes!!!
Think Handscomb's innings was the difference here. For some reason, it seemed to become difficult to time your shots post the 35th over or so in both digs. And Handscomb's innings made the difference between 300 and 330 for Australia. Also Jadhav totally lost momentum out of nowhere past the 35th when we were batting too. I understand it becoming difficult to find the boundary but he kept playing out dot balls and finding that one fielder up close at midwicket. It also did not help that the umpires ran away when there was no rain. I have seen "rain stops play" but this was a case of "no rain stops play". Funny to see the Chump complaining about it when the umps finally woke up to the fact that you don't need to remove players from the ground when it is not raining at all. Don't think this attitude will get them to any great place.

Also I think credit should be given to Warner and Finch. Ultimately, the other difference between the two sides was that Finch and Warner did not throw away a good start needlessly but Rahane, Rohit and Kohli did from our side. I think the death bowling was equally good from both sides, except the 2 loose balls every other over from Yadav but I think the biggest differences were Handscomb's knock and the way we threw away our good start and they didn't.

And yes, yesterday was a great opportunity to have MSD at 4. I get that they think having Pandya out there ensures Australia dont bowl their spinner but its just way too much pressure on Pandey and Dhoni. Would prefer to see MSD at 4 and Pandey at 5 with Jadhav and Pandya the 6 and 7. They are the best guys to play the role of finishers for us now, there is no reason to mess this up by pushing them both up the order all the time.

Still think long term India will be better served if Raina can find his mojo and slot back in as a regular #5 for us in ODIs.
