Why we going to india for these?

They are playing NZ in a couple of weeks for a big tour, easier for them to pop over here before heading across the ditch
Or we could have the Chappell Hadlee trophy played now instead of playing it in March

Never seen this sort of scheduling in our summer, then one dayers start of the NRL season

OP's should be used as a reference source. You'll note that I actually included the fixture, time and date of matches and the squads. You could learn a thing or two from this.

Why isn't Glenn Maxwell in the squad?

Maxwell's ODI stats since Jan 2016

A fun part of that StatsGuru is by picking the 1st of Jan, I actually spilt his career of 110 games perfectly in half (here's the first half). Anyway, the rejection of Maxwell's bowling (first by captains and then by opposition batsmen) makes it difficult to fit Maxwell into the team imo, given he's a low 30's average guy (albeit at an amazing S/R - this is true either side of the 55 games, I think his first 55 games is at an average of 35ish while the last 55 is 29.8, so not a huge difference). Maxwell basically playing as a specialist batsman has meant including another all-rounder below him (usually Stoinis) who typically has much the same problem as Maxwell, not good enough with bat or ball. This makes for a weaker team overall. They've basically decided to dump both these all-rounders and just pick a proper batsman and more of a bowling all-rounder in Ashton Agar. Ideally, Maxwell should be batting at 6ish and bowling 6+ overs. This is basically the role he did have when Clarke/Bailey was captain (plus the other A/R was Shane Watson...)

One thing about the stats, Maxwell did bowl a lot in early 2019. In 2016, 17 and 18 Maxwell only bowled 55 overs in 32 matches

One interesting aspect is that Sean Abbott's replacement wasn't another fast bowler but D'Arcy Short. I wonder if they'll give Agar the first couple of games and if he doesn't do much, they'll look to play Short and get overs out of him and Marnus

In the Marsh Cup (50 overs)

Labuschagne played 6 matches: 14 overs 1-99.
Short played 8 matches: 12 overs 2-76

Against such a potent batting lineup, id be nervous needing 10 overs from Marnus+D'arcy.

yeah it wouldn't be any better than Stonis/MaxwelI, but I can't fathom any other reason for Short being there given they already have one reserve batsman.
