Sent out a nightwatchman to potentially face just one ball.......ridiculous.
6 ball

Not to forget Jason Gillespie
Who was sent with 3 ball to go as nightwatchman vs Bangers

Next morning Jason hits 200 his name in record book as DBL century in last test as nightwatchman

Aus Never call him back !

Not a good day.

Think India are showing why they're so tough to beat at home, they've bowled and batted really well. Cummins was awful but everyone else I thought bowled OK. Batting wasn't great.

Re: Travis Head, on its own I can somewhat understand the move considering how he played in Pakistan and Sri Lanka last year.

But it doesn't make sense when Warner keeps his spot. He's had two poor tours of India, was mediocre in Pakistan/Sri Lanka last year and in general has been poor outside Australia.

They should've either played both or dropped both. Doing this just makes it feel like the selectors/leadership are playing favourites with 'established' players.

It's the sort of thing that can cause friction on a touring team, especially one that struggles on-field.

IDK man that sounds like something I would love to see happen, also perhaps the coach could give the aussie lads some homework.

Just wondering where they will play Head then because he was awful in his County stint for Sussex. Hardly makes him an obvious Ashes selection.

Today showed why its so difficult for visiting sides in India.

Firstly the opposition always pick players for the conditions rather than their best players. Australia dropped Head and played only 2 seamers. I'm not saying that's wrong, but it unbalances the side before you start - straight away you're saying some of our best players can't play in India. How does that impact the rest of the team.

Then on a pitch which didn't spin excessively, but did enough, the batting line up struggles to cope.

There's always alot of mind games from India, as most home sides do. Talk of the pitch being doctored or turning from ball 1, I think gets into batsmen minds.

Once Labushchagne and Smith went, it always felt that a collapse was on the cards and it duly happened.

Then due to the match situation, Cummings was off his usual standard - and before you know it, the Indians are half way to your total with only a wicket down.

A tough day for the Aussies and I think mentally some of their team struggled - as many opposition sides do.

As usual though I thought India were excellent.

He'll play in England. Has made a habit of scoring run a ball hundreds on greentops.

Crap to see us bowled out for 170 but seems like bad luck on the Carey dismissal and fantastic bowling from India Allround bar Axar to keep us to it.

In Pune 2017, Smith scored a ton in 2nd dig when his SR was 50+ while failed in 1st dig batting conservatively.

In his decline 2019/20---mid2022, he faced almost similar no. of balls per innings as he faced in his prime. His output was lesser though coz of decline in SR (or oppositions better restricted his scoring areas on leg side)

His SR was better in Sri Lanka last year & hence he scored a 100 there.

& after all these lessons, he still resorted to playing overly cautiously.
