I seem to remember Morne Morkel opening as nightwatchman once against Mitchell Johnson in full flight

Ended as one would expect
That wasn't actually as a nightwatchman, there was still basically a session left when he was put up to open after Smith had his thumb smashed. Also Bollinger got him out.

Even crazier was that that example actually worked!
Leach must have been absolutely devasted not to reach three figures.

Anyway, here's another one, in the famous test where Bradman reversed the batting order on a drying pitch.
Fleetwood-Smith didn't actually get to bat at number 11 in the first innings, but would have done if they didn't declare at 9 down.
