*Official* Australia in India 2023

Whatever it takes!!!
This is almost like how India players started getting injured in the Australia series and India finally played the B team in the 4th test. The capitulation yesterday also quite similar to the Adelaide pink ball collapse.

Strong Australia comeback predicted?
They dont have Zampa as a net bowler, so no.

If Murphy's injury persists, then Swepson for him would actually make it a reasonably varied attack with Starc, Cummins, Green, Lyon and Swepson all bowling different varieties as such with Head and Labu for support.

I think the thing that annoys me most is that a lot of what happened yesterday was obviously premeditated which is just... not how you should play in Test cricket, regardless of whether you're attacking or defending. You should play each ball on its own merits, regardless of your own personal scheme for assessing those merits, and in your own way. I still don't understand what Smith was trying to achieve with his shot when it's not his shot, especially after Kohli had clearly demonstrated that you can succeed on that pitch simply by hitting anything pitched up through the line of the ball and playing back and to the legside to anything else off the back foot. If there's one thing you can trust Steve Smith to do, it's playing off the back foot into the legside. But instead he decides to premeditate a massive sweep off middle stump and misses the ball by a foot.

I really wonder how many times he played that shot in 2017 when he got three hundreds. It can't have been many. Certainly not when he wasn't in full slog mode.

Like I said earlier the selection is honestly a red herring. The players, individually, are actually good enough in terms of skill. The mindset is the problem.
I don't think the players are good enough in terms of skill playing in India against Jadeja and Ashwin.

The Aussies are a fine test team, but they're not equipped to play high quality spin bowling on helpful pitches - no team in the world is which is why India haven't been beaten at home for so long.

I think in this test the Aussie batsmen got themselves in a mess by sweeping so much but that's because the more conventional methods didn't work in the 1st test.

The Aussies know deep down as a unit they can't cope with Ashwin and Jadeja and the Indians know it as well.

100 percent , some things are just beyond our capabilities , facing Ashwin and Jadeja is rocket science for most batsmen around the world , I believe they are trying their best but it's just not good enough .

It's Sydney's fault, the ****s. Australia is never going to prepare properly for India, so at least get your ground back to a spinners paradise so our shield players can get some exposure.
Spin isn't real anymore man. They're getting out to straighties

In an ideal world , Aus would have prepared for India tour against WI by preparing slow wickets in their home summer

Similarly, India should prepare 2000 style wickets for the remaining 2 Tests . Allow our batsmen to get some confidence. Ashwin/Jadeja can’t hide our batting mess in WTC finals . Let batsmen have some runs under their belt.

His Test future has to be serious doubt now; he has been regularly injured since the 2019/20 season and he isn't a young man in pace bowling terms.
Not a loss here, but surely a big miss for the Ashes if he doesn't make it. Starc as equally injury prone, Boland never bowled in England, who will support the skipper?

That wouldn't have been possible this summer because of the wet weather. We were lucky not to get a full slate of greentops with the amount of rain about.

Starc hasn't been that injury prone for a while, and Hazlewood seems to get persistent ones. Neser and Boland will both be fine in England. So would Richardson, but speaking on injury prone...

Hopefully Hazlewood won't make the Ashes ? but I think in Boland the Aussies have to more than capable replacement who looks like he'll be an ideal bowler in our conditions.

What we really need from an English viewpoint is Cummings and/or Starc out.

Whereas in India, the Aussies have got themselves into a bit of a mess selection wise and things have gone wrong with injuries, that never seems to happen when they tour England.

Harris being ruled out on the eve of the 2015 series was a massive deal. Granted, his knee had basically disintegrated by that point, that wasn't really "luck" per se.

And then who can forget a certain fast bowler rolling his ankle on a cricket ball 17 years ago...

Hoping for injuries in the opposition is always the classiest form of fandom.

I suppose we can be grateful he wasn’t wishing a protracted illness on Cummins’ family member instead of a speedy recovery.

if they don’t have any faith or confidence in themselves to handle spin then what are they doing on tour?
I think they will have had confidence in their ability to play spin before the tour but that will have evaporated with each innings.

Head was dropped for the 1st test, Warner and Renshaw look completely bewildered and even Smith has looked wobbly.

After 2 tests, only 1 Aussie batsmen, Handscombe, averages over 30. That's obviously not going to get the job done.

It's a clear as day, on these pitches, they can't cope with Ashwin and Jadeja.

As much as I love to see the Aussies struggle ?, I don't see any other side including England, doing any better.
