India are simply fantastic at home and in Jadeja and Ashwin, with pitches prepared to help them, they keep running through the opposition for fun.

As much as it pains me, I think the Aussies are the best test team in the world but let's be honest, it's men against boys in this series.

No team has the batting to to cope with Jadeja and Ashwin. Yes the Aussies could have done better, and maybe their selections haven't helped but let's not kid ourselves, it wouldn't matter who they picked - India at home are too good - and this isn't a great Indian batting line up.

In these conditions Jadeja and Ashwin are 2 ATG spinners and I'm not sure even a world 11 would beat them.

Decent gap between this test and the next so hopefully green and starc are fit for the next game. I'de go

1.Usman
2.Head
3.Marnus
4.Smith
5.Handscomb/Green
6.Green/handscomb
7.Carey
8.Starc
9.Cummins
10.Lyon
11.Murphy

Go with the team makeup that we had success with last time in Asia IMO. Starc averages 30 odd with the bat in india and green should worst case be able to occupy the crease for longer than renshaw. Carey and renshaw not making runs + having 2 #10's and 2 #11's as a tail has ment that we've basically had a black hole below #4 and haven't been able to build a partnership. Major different between our batting and india's throughout is that we've regularly lost clumps of wickets in quick succession while even their worst performing bats have occupied the crease for 20 balls, plus the tail.

You've mentioned the Khawaja-Marnus combine away from home several times but I think you can safely dismiss away exploits elsewhere when it comes to touring India. To succeed here requires an altogether different set of technical and mental skills. The only guy with proven pedigree here is Smith and even he evidently is not the same robot of yesteryear.
Marnus has looked rock solid and been our leading scorer so far this series (not a massive bar tbf) and a majority of his dismissals have been from balls that I don't think he could have done much about, and khawaja just made a match defining 80 in the 1st innings of this game. Both have outperformed smith so far this series. There both clearly good enough to perform in these conditions.

Smith's issue is that he's not following the methodology that made him so good last time we toured here. Smith of 2017 wouldn't have been caught dead getting beaten on the inside edge playing for spin vs jadeja 2 innings in a row like he did in the 1st test.

Still, those aussie teams of 90s and 2000s and the Bradman team and Windies 70s teams were so great both home and away. Not sure if this Indian team is better than those teams at home.
Bradman's side wasn't tested against many teams. Windies in the late 70s/early 80s never faced strong Australia and Pakistan teams at home.

The Aussie side of the 2000s still had teams come and draw series against them. I would still say that they were more capable of being beaten than this Indian side in these conditions because Ashwin-Jadeja-Axar-Shami in India >> McGrath, Gillespie, MacGill and Warne in Australia

Yup. At the end of the day, Ashwin-Jadeja are the difference between any side that comes, doesn't matter how much stronger the other team is in other departments.

However, I think we have to credit India's lower order too for this victory. A 100 run lead and suddenly Australia folding would still be ok and give them enough to win.

Not surprised it ended up going sour. They clearly weren't getting along all series and DK kept being a bit of a dickhead. Bit soft from Waugh too to pack it in tbh, should've snapped back harsher.
Did Mark Waugh really left home due to his verbal spat from DK ? Is he really that soft ?

Shami and Siraj have done not much, except for one innings really.
Jaddu-Ash-Axar are real order

You seem to be implying that Australia are a strong number one though / they most certainly are not
Then you don't need to look further than SA 2015 - as big a mutilation as it gets! I will add though that Steyn went home after first test, so it could've been a lot closer than 3-0 at the end. Eng should also thank India for their series win in 2015/16 because SA were basically shell shocked & still suffering from injuries/PTSD that series, back in SA. The series also effectively was the end of the (test) career of the best pace bowler since McGrath ☹

I really request to please stop hyping up India . All of this will look extremely funny if we lose yet another ICC final .

The added bonus with Jadeja and Ashwin is they are both more than handy with the bat, particularly Jadeja.

Axar is also very useful and Shami is a good lower order hitter.

They've made a real difference in this series as India's top order hasn't been great as a unit.

What's there to hype? Our domination started from Oz 2013 series but this was (arguably) the biggest turning point for us in the course of 15 series wins at home. I also don't expect us to win that overhyped one off test in Eng.
