And commentators continue to be heard off-mic. Shastri commenting about those chicks there.

They never seem to learn that muting their own mic doesn't prevent them being audible through the others commentators mics.

Must admit, I thought Aust would get rolled & be shot psychologically in the last two tests having let that opportunity slip in the 2nd test... Credit to their mental toughness and if they could manage a draw here it could give them a real boost for a 2nd wind in the last Test..
I wouldn't go that far. India should still win the series comfortably, these conditions are just too foreign for the Australians, and the Indians are too experienced in them. It would be nice if they didn't get absolutely thrashed in the last test but still they've definitely exceeded expectations.

And it sets a tough mark for India to meet next time they come to Australia. ie. can they win a Test?

Tea on day 5 with Australia just 4 down. Thats it then, well done Australia for staying alive and giving yourself a chance to win the series.

Hard to think of how that session could've gone any better, barring the deficit being knocked off too. Still am slightly worried about a lolaspe happening - I'm not convinced we have the cushion for it - but it's a great effort from these two.

Outstanding partnership. Put up a harder fight between them than the totality of quite a few Australian sides in the last decade in the subcontinent, it has to be said.

Brilliant batting.. Can't complain about the bowling now. The spinners are no going to get much purchase with the old ball

Smith's on-field captaincy aside, he's done an excellent job of lifting this ragtag team since the second SA test. He's done a mini-AB.

What did he say? Anything that is likely to end up in the papers tomorrow?

Both these guys are much better in these conditions than their series numbers have demonstrated, so if you believe in cosmic evening out (which I don't) then they were really due here. Really happy for both of them anyway.

Mate, there's only one Test remaining. If they guts out a draw here, they'll get an enormous psychological boost going into the last with the rubber on the line, which should off-set their mental & physical exhaustion a long SC tour can have on non-SC sides.

India will be under far more pressure going into that Test.

Ball stopped doing anything as soon as it went soft didn't it. At the end of the day these two have batted really well and I don't think we could've bowled much better. Draw seems fair.

Boring pitch tbh even Jadeja scored runs on this. Bring back Pune.
