Series Ratings:
Australia:
Warner: One decent innings, was usless as an opener otherwise. A prime candidate for **** of the series. 2/10
Cowan: Must have been frustrating for him that he couldnt manage to convert all those starts into a big one, but still showed more application, grit, fight and any other Langer-Waugh-ish cliche you can name. 6/10
Hughes: Was completely out of his depth in the first 2 tests and couldnt cope with the alien conditions quickly enough. Footwork gradually improved after he started controlling his urge to sweep everything and made some decent runs in the final two tests. 2.5/10
Watson: Absolutely useless as a cricketer now that the thing which kept him in the team, his bowling is no longer a factor (for now). Scored the same amount of runs in the series than Starc did in one innings, didnt do his homework, was his usual drama-queen self and . took his boneheadedness to new levels by making some inexplicable decisions as captain 0/10
He now averages 35 after 41 tests with just 2 (!) hundreds. that is an almost Ishant Sharma like record
Clarke: Was his usual superb self in the first two tests and was several classes above his teammates. Failed when he needed to move up the order, though 7.5/10
Smith: Batted very well and showed real promise against spin, especially in the third test. Couldnt have done too much more7/10/10
Henriques: Strange series, which started off with two superb fifties in the first test, but then fell away quickly. Bowling was a complete non-factor 5/10
Wade: Abominable is the word to describe his keeping. Cost his bowlers, who needed all the help they could get, numerous wickets. Needs to be dropped for the good of the team
1/10
Maxwell: Terrible with both bat and ball. Has no right to be near a test squad. Somehow ended up with the best average for any Australian bowler (27), which shows just how **** stats can be1/10
Starc: Completely ineffective with the ball, and too one-dimensional in his approach to succeed in places like the subcontinent. Like the rest of the bowlers, was good with the bat 4/10
Pattinson: Was superb in the first test and even though he couldnt replicate that again, looked the most likely to get wickets, and never bowled consistent drivel like the rest.
7.5/10
Siddle: Bowled a heap of leg-side pies and other varieties of filth. Superb with the bat in the last test 4/10
Doherty: Not a test cricketer 0.5/10
Haddin: Though its not saying much, he's better than Wade 4/10
India:
Sehwag: Thanks for the entertainment, but career over 1/10 Deserves 0, but 1 for being SehWAG
Vijay: Not a fan, and i think he'll struggle overseas, but cannot begrudge him praise for a magnificent comeback series. 9/10
Dhawan: Godlike in the one innings he played, which almost single-handedly set up the game for the team. Promptly got injured just when everyone wanted him to prove it wasnt a fluke. 8/10
Pujara: Could not have done any more. WAG 9.5/10 Opposing attack was as poor as you can get though, which is why its not a 10
Tendulkar: Yet another mediocre series. Scored an underrated and quite vital 81, but struggled thereafter. His average has now dipped below Kambli's, which must have made him very happy, which makes me very angry 3.5/10
Kohli: Hundred in the first test was extremely important and played a couple of other useful innings. If only he wasnt such a **** I'd like him more.... and i want to 7.5/10
Dhoni: Mostly quite poor behind the stumps but played an absolute blinder in the first test which swung the momentum dramatically. 8/10
Ashwin: Brilliant with the ball and picked up loads of crucial wickets. Man of the series. Bad with the bat, surprisingly 9.5/10
Jadeja: Superb performance by the man we all love to hate. Has shut his critics up, atleast with the ball. Can be a huge asset if he improves with the bat 8.5/10
Ishant Sharma: Drop this **** already. 2/10
Bhuvneshwar: Only picked up wickets in two innings but when he did, they were the top three batsmen, which speaks volumes of his potential with the new ball. Has loads of room for improvement but I'm excited to see him bowl overseas, especially in England, where he could be very good 4.5/10
Harbhajan: Useless 0.5/10
Ojha: Slightly disappointing but dropping him for Harbhajan was a boneheaded move which must have done his confidence no good 4/10
