No need to wonder, cricinfo has had his audio column up for a few days.

How can Warnie criticize Ponting when he himself was massive failure against India all over the world.

At least Ricky is fighting and trying to win for Australia unlike some folks who conveniently chose retirement and IPL when their country needed him the most. One of the most selfish cricketers to play for Australia.

"Murali, Daniel Vettori and myself and a lot of other spinners have been smashed in India at times. That is no disgrace at all. How Haury bounces back in Australia this summer is the key. In my opinion Steve Smith is still a long way short of being Australia's No.1 Test spinner."

As others have pointed out, I just don't think Warne thinks much of Ponting as a tactician

Exactly.

Nobody is more passionate about our cricketing fortunes than Warney.

Ponting, and the guy is a terrific cricketer, I think struggles a bit to think on his feet tactically.

He is fine with Plan A, but it's after that where I feel he struggles...

And rightly so, If I might add.

Reckon' it's ludicrous to call Warne selfish, He's just a passionate Aussie fan.

Whatever it takes!!!
Warney goes OTT a lot of times in his statements to the media but at heart, I am sure he is just hurt and baffled that a spinner was treated the way Hauritz was and there was not much help from the captain...

I think Warney and an instant public interaction tool (twitter) just don't sometimes mix because he seems to be a pretty spur of the moment public speaker. However, I think what he thinks of Ponting is fairly valid, regardless of how Warne did against India. It's better than some optimist that blames random intangible factors.

Exactly. I'd rather someone, particularly when we're ranked #5, calls it as it is than sugercoats it in the name of protecting peoples' feelings.

I really dont see what all the fuss about the field Ponting gave Haurtiz in that last innings.

Hauritz struggles in the 1st test & 1st innings @ Bangalore basically meant, he didn't deserve any real attacking fields. Since i'm quite sure even if Ponting did given him attacking fields, the Indian batsmen would have still smoked him & thus Ponting would have still had to revert back to that defensive field.

I remember on the final day @ Chennai 2001, when Warne was having a shocker with the ball. With 155 needed to win, Waugh gave Warne a similar defensive field cause he was bowling anywhere near well enough to deserve an attacking one.

did u even watch the game? At times, Hauritz was bowling with two guys in the offside... Against a spinner and against batsmen with the sort of footwork the Indians have, that is suicide.. (or homicide of the spinner  )

Wait and see how Raina goes outside of the subcontinent, and wait to see if Rohit can put down the pies long enough to get in shape for 7-hour innings like someone with dedication to match natural talent.

Hauritz generally wants players to hit through cover on the front foot. If you are Harbhajan and spinning it square and getting bite, then you can leave cover open tempting him to hit it there. Hauritz doesn't do that, he needs protection through the area that he wants the batsman hitting the ball. Bowling without a cover (there was one on the fence) is ridiculous and makes it impossible for him to build pressure.
