Impending purchase of a fly swatter for YT I think.

Can someone who can think and breathe at the same time (not this ****wit) tell me what's happened in this match thus far please? I've only just woken up.
Good start with the bat by Australia, Watson played well and with freedom, pitch had a bit of variable bounce, Broad exploited it well, Clarke ****e once again, Yardy hard to get away once again, decent knock by White without ever really destroying, 239 a little below par, Kieswetter dreadful, Strauss good, McKay pedestrian, KP out to a silly shot when looking set, Ponting taking a good catch

Read through the thread mate. If you promise not to abuse me in future, I shall recap it for you.

Smith showing why he is potentially our most important discovery in years

Like the way he kept tossing up as well

To be very honest only India and Champions Trophy can be called "good" contests. NZ are almost there, but Pakistan, West Indies and England were quite dire in ODIs. What about the series losses at homes against India, SA, and drawn (iirc) with NZ and also away series loss against SA?
We're only talking in the short term. The point isn't that every side we've played has been amazing, it's that the notion that we've only feasted on poor sides is incorrect. We've been very good for the past year. Note: that doesn't mean we've been amazing either.

@Zaremba for the Ponting comment

Anywhoo, well done Strauss. Should do this relatively comfortably with all the batting we have.

Quite liking the cut of Smith's jib here. Pretty good line and length, gets a bit of turn and bounce. He has a face that only a mother, or a fist, could love, but you can't have it all.

Nah, India not a big deal.. Early WC exit and all. Would add them to the poor list tbh

Just ignore them if you can't love them. Let the moderator take action if he abused you. You may report it however. But don't respond in same fashion. What is the difference between you and him/her then?

Plus he batted pretty well and is right up there with the best fieldsmen in the world

Think I'd look half decent if I got to bowl an over at Collingwood in his current form tbh.

Yes, I've been talking too short term only. And yes, I have always maintained they are one formidable side, but just disagreeing with "nearly back to their best" type of observations.

Yeah. It will be interesting to see if he can make it as a genuine wrist-spinning all-rounder. Off the top of my head I can't think of any in history. Benaud I suppose but not really a front-line batsman, which Smith certainly has the potential to be.
