Easy - because no-one saw it and it's not important.

It may be complete and utter rubbish emanating from the Australian camp - yet another one of these famous 'smokescreens' where at the end of the day only the really stupid and gullible are taken in.

It may be that the 'incident' really did happen - or rather that it didn't, and the players decided not to make any kind of a song and dance about it because it would be seen in many eyes as 'not cricket' - and you know what, if the game had ended that way, it really would have been a poor show.

In my mind, as truly unsportsmanlike as running the non-striker out backing up.
I am not sure about this, Eddie. AFAIC, the striker has to remain within the crease, but if McGrath took guard and stood outside his crease to face the ball and never went back in, he is liable to be out stumped or run out or whatever. But I didn't see the incident and I am only talking from what I gather from reports.

If Gus thought that it would have been immoral, who am I to disagree?

(actually, I disagree with most things that Angus Fraser DOES say, so perhaps that disqualifies me from pontificating on this occasion).

just managed to see the final day highlights for the 3rd test, and I envy all you ppl who get to see it live. I think Billy bowden did a fine job of umpiring, and Jones wicket of Clark was one of the best in recent times, Clark was a deer in the head light. Ritchie called it reverse swing, I saw the shinny side inside, I thought shinny side out and ball coming in was reverse swing. Eng fans would've liked Freddie bowling the last over perhaps, from flauting his man bobies to doing reverse flips he's come a long way, definetly the best all rounder now. For all who will see the 4th and 5th test live, I hate you all :D

You have it the wrong way around. Conventional swing is when the ball swings in the other direction to the shinny side (so shinny side out means it swings in). This is because the air travels with less resistance over the smoother side, so it is able to travel faster through the air than the rough side, making the ball "turn" in the air.

I dont know the physics behind reverse swing works (the idea of it makes no sense to me). If anyone does please tell me.

Fraser thinks the substitute rule in ODI Cricket is good, so I think we're all entitled to disagree with anything he says!

you are probably right. reverse swing is explained here nicely.

And unless someone here tells me exactly what happened, I'll go by what I saw and say that ol' Gus seems to have dreamt up the entire incident.

The story emanated from the Australian camp - Shane Warne wrote about it in his Times column (doesn't appear to be available online yet)

When are you people going to learn?

Shane Warne does NOT write that column in The Times.

It's got vowels in it.

He doesn't physically write it. He obviously has the main input though.

Australia played better than england in the fiirst test , england played better than australia in the second and 3rd test , not to forget the key england players sre on form now .Dont think I'm joking about this becuase I heard it and seen it on the mirror and the sun newspaper , this club member of lancanshire went into the dressing room and seen , mcgrath , gillespie , hayden , ponting , and other guys ,dancing around the the table with a flower on the table and chanting ' RAIN RAIN COME AGIAN '. The guys were obviousley desperate for the rain to come and keep going . But ponting saved the aussies and what a great knock it was to . The drop catch by pieterson , proved costley.
