at least there will be some cricket on terrestrial tv next year when the reign goes to BskyB

Yeh, they would have been so looking forward to facing Gillespie. Easiest runs they would ever make

Telling decision in the tour match against Northants. The Australian lineup:

Langer, Hayden, Hodge, Martyn, Clarke, Katich, Haddin, Lee, Tait, Kasprowicz, McGrath

That is to say, no Gillespie. It appears confirmed then that he won't be playing in the next test. It will almost certainly be Kasprowicz now, unless Tait really rips them apart in this game or someone comes down with an injury. Unfortunately Northants have won the toss and elected to field, so we won't actually get a decent look at either of the candidates until tomorrow.

Oh Australia... where have you gone?

We need Bevan, Hussey in. We`d be so much more invincible then.

We'll find out when the reports are done, but I get the feeling this was a tough pitch early. The first half a dozen overs yielded about 1 run, and clearly the openers were very much on the defensive. And, obviously, Australia were sent in.
