***Official*** Australia in England (The Ashes)

The selectors should potentially consider dropping hoggard for a genuine batsman, using someone for 12 overs in the second innings isnt enough. If you don't trust him to bowl anymore then he's wasting a spot. The Australians use 3 seamers and a spinner (although its warne) we should be doing the same imo. Especially with Flintoffs current batting form its difficult to make the case he is playing like a genuinely effective allrounder. He isnt good enough to be playing at number 6. Once our openers are gone, with Vaughan's current form our order looks very suspect and vulnerable. KP isnt going to get us out of trouble every time. Which leaves us scoring 200 odd every innings which is no-way near enough.

Thorpe must be brough back from retirement and the team should look something like this in my opinion: Tres, Strauss, Vaughan, Pietersen, Bell, Thorpe, Jones, Flintoff, Giles, Jones, Harmy. Ive moved pietersen up because the newer ball doesn't seem to bother him and it will take the pressure off Bell, whilst if Pietersen gets out cheaply we have those two to fall back on, ive dropped freddy down to 8 because it will allow him more freedom with the bat against hopefully an older ball and more tired attack. Looks far stronger to me, and the added strain on the bowling attack will be worth it, they can all bowl 25+ overs in an innings with Giles compensating on the 3rd day onwards.

I hope the BBC gets the weather forecast right for a change, I think I could just about put up with the last 2 days being rained off. Although I suppose they'd get the odd bit of play in between the 'thundery showers' on Monday.

flashbacks of almost every ashes series in the 90s really.
and if people are worrying about thorpes retirement, maybe if butcher were fit at least we'd have got some more experience into this test side.
thats the thing England have absolutely no experience to fall back on in thier batting, if i were tom graveney i would calling thorpe and seriously try to convince him to come out of retirement just for this series.

im sorry but if you dont undergo intense preparation and watch plenty of highlights of shane warnes action over the last few years before what is arugably the most important series of your career(in bell, strauss and trescos cases) then you dont deserve to be playing test match cricket.
well i'm pretty sure they would have watched video's but after todays experiecne Bell would be the first to admit that going out their and facing Warne was a whole different ball game.

Are any of the AUssie fans nervoud that pietersen is still there?

This guy seems to have a bit of genius about him.

The main thing I've noticed is that it's not even as if he's been a bit lucky since he's come into either form of the game. (OK so todays full toss LBW aside)

He seems REALLY hard to get out. A number of his dissmissals have been due to slogging with reckless abandon when left with the tail. I've rarely seen him get away with a false stroke, or streaky edge etc.

I can legitimately see him batting through once again in this match so Australia had better get the others out qucikly.
hell no the only thing Ponting has his men would be worried about is rain...

Hendrick was a very 'clever' seamer - he had to be because he lacked any real penetration through pace. He nipped the ball off the seam and bowled a nagging line. He was indeed very difficult to get after, oh yes, I'm quite sure of that.

No one ever believes I'm 19. I got asked if I was my mum's husband by one of the kids at the school she works in over Easter.

Hehe reminds me of when I was coaching school kids (15-16yr olds). The bus dropped them off so I got them all together, then one of the girls asked what net they would be using. I told her I wanted them all to stay together until the teacher arrived. All the kids burst out laughing and the young girl who asked about the nets informed me she was the teacher.
