Biggest Disappointment for England: Steve Harmison(more concerned about how his pace has dropped during the ODIs)

Rubbish! In the last game every ball seemed to be above 88! He wont disappoint... he'll have 3 slips and gully bowling fast and bouncy outside off... no team can play him when he gets it right.

Yes noone... deny that and you are an idiot. :p

really? at headingly he was bowled several deliveries below 80mph. at lords he was bowling below 85 and even at the oval he was struggling to get it above 85mph. AFAIC darren lehmann maybe right, harmison is already looking a bit jaded even before the start of the test series. theres no doubting that hes a good bowler whn he gets it right, but what if he doesnt?

Is anyone here actually putting money or having a bet on the ashes. Ie best batsman etc?

Myself i have placed 5 bets all on the best batsman of the series, all at $50 each bet. On the following batsman

Langer
Hayden
Ponting
Martyn and Gilchrist

Best case scenario i win 300 worst case i lose it all..................

It would be interesting to see how many members of cricketweb have actually put there money where their mouth is, so to speak

International Debutant
Wouldn't be surprised if Trent Bridge is the pitch for Simon Jones - he bowl very straight and low bounce in the latter stages has been the main feature in recent years - an astonishing no. of LBWs

No money on this but best batsman is an area where England have a surprisingly decent record throughout their long run of thrashings.

Wasn't too bad, 5 wickets.

Just noticed Krezja is playing for Leicester, and is apparently in due to Sadler retiring hurt. Got a Lee special? ;)

hehe Krezja 2nd top score for them, behind Rogers ;) Aussies definatley dominating this one so far.

And one thing you have to factor in is where Langer and Hayden might get 7 or 8 knocks, most of England's top order will get 10.

The bottom line is Australia are a better side hands down.

THeir bowling is more consistent - with England, harmison blows hot and cold and Jones doesn't really impress me (he's ok but I don't think he is or will be the world beater quick that some Englishmen think he will become). . Hoggard needs the right conditions to be effective. They also lack a top quality spinner - again Giles is OK but he won't trouble the Aussies unduly.

I think Australia's batting is far superior to England's - Strauss and Tresco have major flaws in their technique. Vaughan is quality player but he hasn't looked the same player since he became captain.
Pietersen's inability to play on the off side will be exposed by the Aussies andd Flintoff will have his work cut off trying to contribute with bat and ball against the relentless Aussies.

For England to have a chance their batsmen must perform - this would give their bowling (their stronger area IMo) something to work with.
But Australia are the more talented and more consistent team and I expect them to win 3-1.
