Looking at the predictions of some of you, I'm left to wonder how exactly Pietersen can manage to be a surprise package, unless you meant in a negative light...

Well, I think it will be a surpsrise if he really does fire ... I think it's too much to think he will instantly dominate Australia's bowling attack. Many a batsman have been shattered by Warne, McGrath and co

Your right, I think if our bowlers, bowl outside off stump and crap him for room, he'll try to hit the ball to the onside where his strength is and go across the line.

Clarke the only one not to score a fifty in this innings, not even making double figure. If Australia start poorly in the series and he isn't firing, I wouldn't mind seeing Hodge or even Hussey coming in to the team (I doubt the selectors would do it though)

Nice going Punter, when will their declaration occur? when Martyn gets to his century? or end of day?

I think Katich needs a bat ... tough dilemma though cos Punter will want the bowlers to get anouther go at them

I'm surprised Australia haven't declared already, once Clarke was gone it seemed sensible to me to declare at around 250-300 so they'd have 100+ to score in the second innings and Clarke could get another bat, pushing Katich up the order.

True ... it hasn't been very well managed by Punter and the Aussie crew

Maybe he wants to get himself in esquisite form in preparation for his 800 + run tally for the forthcoming ashes? Nah he should declare now or retire himself or marto

Poor Katich. All that wait for four runs. Ponting'll probably let Gilchrist hit a few around before declaring, if he hasn't done so already...

I'm assuming Australia wanted to bowl on days 1 and 3, and bat on day 2. Chances are you'll see an overnight declaration.
