So Mcgrath being out injured, then winning the toss on a featherbed, then Flintoff surviving a very strong LBW shout when on 8 and then the completely inexplicable decision for Jones isn't enough good fortune for you. What more do you want?
Inexplicable even though snicko suggests no nick?

"Very strong"? Had it been Giles to say Ponting, you'd not have liked it being given

Yes, there's been luck, but how many times in previous series have England had all the injury problems (and more than just 1 injury)?

I think the LBW wasn't out, the nick was.

England motoring along like the middle overs in an ODI at the moment.

If you actually payed attention to the Jones decision you could plainly see the dust rising off the floor where the bat hit it.

Good point that last one. We have tended to have all of the luck in the past, it's probably only fair that the luck is starting to turn your way for a change.

Sorry, but that's ridiculous. I don't care who is batting, if it pitches leg and straightens it's out. The only thing Bucknor could have had doubt about is whether it hit bat or pad first, and really that was pretty clear as well.

No doubt it hit the ground, but it hit the bat as well.

Shot Flintoff.

Flintoff murdering Kasprowicz here. You can't help but feeling this is a match-turning innings, as it's turned a potential 300 odd score into what could easily be 450-500.

But if an umpire hears a noise, knows the batsman's hit the ground, and there's no visible deviation of the ball (there wasn't) to say it was a dreadful decision is pushing it too far.

My concern is that ALL 50/50's are going Eng's way for whatever reason, Flintoff was very lucky to survive, if hes out for 8 then what odds that Eng would have made 366.

In the context of the game its a vital one, we've seen any number of the 50/50's go against Australia in this series, and thats my issue.

Generally you see poor decisions even themselves out through the course of a series, we'll need 20 in the last test to square up.

McGrath is getting old and injury prone so it's not England's luck if Australia haven't found a younger replacement yet.

One day he'll retire. What will Australia do then ?

Rely purely on the bowling brilliance of Ponting. B)

There was doubt though was there not?

Another thing to factor in is how far Flintoff had got forward, was it going completely straight or was there more time for it to slide down leg?

Another thing about the Geraint 'edge' is I don't think he looked back as the ball went behind to Gilchrist, I'm not saying whether he edged it or not (inconclusive as far as I'm concerned) but if he did he did well not to look behind.

He was so far down it was probably going over the top.
