***Official*** Australia in England (The Ashes)

Does anyone outside Australia like Hayden or want him to suceed? I think he is a bully who has created a bad reputation for himself worldwide.
What's he done to deserve a bad reputation and be considered a bully?

In that case so is Ian Bell.

At least the third time in this series he's done it, plus he did in at least one ODI. It's about time he was disciplined for it.
Dont be so precious!

Test cricket is a hard game - do you really think Warne, Vaughan, etc are exchanging pleasantries when you see them talking to each other.

The fact is there have been at least 6 plumb lbw appeals turned down against the English in their last 3 innings. No doubt England would feel similarly aggrieved because it hasnt been a one way street.

The cricket has been great but the umpiring has been poor. It's little wonder that tempers are fraying.

Very mean-spirited to hope for failure of any player.
Call me mean-spirited then. 'Cause I'm hoping for a performance from the English bowlers to rival the Murrumbeena thirds - in the girls under-12's comp.

It pretty much has. About 90% in Englands favor anyway.

He is regarded the worst (or the best) sledger in the game. Then there was the bat through the window at Sydney and I don't know any opposition player to say anything good about him as a person.

You don't know him and neither do I. Very unfair to judge him and call him a bully based on his behaviour within an extremely aggressive and competitive team environment. You may have seen him enough to know the player but don't pretend to know the man.

I'm personally hoping for good cricket and Australia to do well. If England win and played well to do it, I'll be happy. :)

Langer looking good so far. Certainly untroubled. English stage-fright? Certainly Harmi looks nervous.

Should have phrased that differently a bully on cricket field. A lot of others play in that extremely aggressive environment and are well liked Gilchrist, Langer, Martyn etc.

It's got nothing to do with waffling on between players, you don't consistently harass the umpires, end of story.

You're weird. :p

Troubling shot from Hayden, facing his nemesis so far... Some patience will be required.

Haydos is looking relatively comfortable right now I reckon. I said earlier, I think he's a key player in the run-chase.

Harmi hasn't hit his straps yet and looks a bit flat. Was bound to happen after all the bowling he did with Flintoff in the first Test.

It doesn't matter - it's inappropriate. I've said many times that the umpires, like the players, deserve criticism if they perform poorly. But showing respect for the position the umpire occupies on the field is extremely important. This particular incident was on the milder side, but Ponting and Warne have been very close to berating umpires and showing open dissent over the last few months. It ought to stop, and they've been given a fair license up to this point that isn't always extended by the ICC powers that be.

He's had some big swing and misses already. But getting starts hasn't so much been his problem.

Seems fine to me, I don't think he can really go after the batsmen on this pitch as it doesn't really suit him.

Hayden looking nice. Usually in the last couple of years when he's started like this he's gotten out for 30 odd, but he handled Hoggard's inswingers nicely and looks more comfortable than Langer against Giles so far.

When Hayden is playing well, he's actually as good a player on a turner as anyone you'll ever see, so there might be a major role for him to play in this innings.

edit: Just realised I repeated Corey here. Oh well. ;)
