Ponting's getting set too. Worth remembering that he has a Bradmanesque average when he passes 20, but fails a lot. If you let him get set, he usually takes you apart.

Jones reminds me of Dean Haedly in that he bowls some unplayable deliveries in with a load of crap.

Ponting closing in on 7,000 test runs. Needs 41 in this innings to get there... on 19 now.

He'll be the 7th Australian and the 27th player to get there, and pass Bradman's 6996 along the way.

I like Griegs commentating a lot better now than when he is on channel 9, for me he tends to be overly critical when commentating in Australia.

Not a great shot by Hayden there. He was looking so good too.
Nothing new there then. It's becoming near impossible to comment on Hayden's form until he's passed forty or so.

19.6 SP Jones to Martyn, no run, that goes right through Martyn! Some excellent deliveries from Jones here. If he keeps at it surely he's going top pick up a wicket.
Reminds me of Eng vs. NZ at Lords. "surely he's going to pick up a wicket" and then every other bowler but him took the wickets while he swung it so much that the batsmen couldn't even hit the damned thing.

Most batsmen in the good to great category would have averages in the 80-100 range when they pass 20, I would imagine.

It's much more noticable with Ponting than others. If you don't get him out early he tends to make a big score, but he's quite vulnerable early on. Tendulkar recently is in the same boat, but players like Dravid, Kallis, Steve Waugh etc aren't so easy to get out early on. Regardless, the point is that if you let Ponting get set he's very dangerous, you need to exploit his technical problems early on.

Hoggard on now, bowling with the slightly older ball. If he doesn't get much swing he might go for a few.

Watch him get a wicket now. :p
