won't happen. ponting can't captain with 2 spinners in the side let alone 3. His under-use of SCG in this match has been appalling
Leaving aside Ponting's failings, I think Cullen would be a better choice than Lee if the second wicket is going to be like this one, particularly if Lee is having back troubles as has been claimed. It'd be interesting to get a look at him as well. Certainly no less deserving of a test cap than Nathan Hauritz.

Looking at Mike Hussey over the last year, i think he has a slight weakness againts spinners (mainly all the left-armer spinners he has faced in test) in that he doesn't get far foward enough for me & when it turns he is a huge LBW candidate. Also when he attempts to sweep he doesn't attempt to cover the line, he just sweeps on lenght and when it turns he increases the chances of him getting bowled (as we just saw).

Bit of an important knock for Ponting here in the sense that he will be facing a lot of spin. Having seen him play spin since his horrific 2001 tour i think he has countered those demonds and is a better player of spin after watching him in SRI 2004. But he since then he wouldn't have faced a constant spin treat on a turner for a while, so it will be interesting to see how he goes and if he does bat well i think some of his doubters should cut him some slack.

Dizzy, did you spell the word 'partnership' incorrectly in your sig twice on purpose? Or...
Oh look the 'n' key and the 'h' key look so similar that's it's easy to mistake them.

couple of quick wickets would see the bangles right on top. i mean next in is damien martyn and to be honest he's not what he once was in test cricket and michael clarke (probably the weakest bat in the line up). it's the sort've thing that the bangles could rip right through.

Martyn and Clarke are arguably Australia`s best against spin, especially Martyn.

What a huge effort by Gillespie and Warne. Huge demolition job. Gillespie`s ball that went right through was a ripper.

Clarke would be keen as hell not to get out if he bats, The Bangladeshi attack suits his batting too.

Martyn is better then he uesd to be, but not as good as Hayden or Gilly though i dont think yet - let alone Clarke.

1/114, still another 200 or so required.

If australia lose Ponting or Hayden soon after tea, we'll have a game on our hands with Martyn and Clarke's recent lack of form, as well as the absence of a 7th batsman

True, but hopefully these two will stay on. It's definetely been Australia's day today, and hopefully we can make it through the day with losing at most two wickets, preferrably just the one (or none). Hopefully they've learned from the first innings and avoid going on to the backfoot that much (assuming the pitch is still paying tricks).

Martyn is an excellent player of spin, I think. Much better than he is against pace these days. He really came into his own in the two subcontinent tours in 2004, and I'd say he's the best player of spin in the team, ahead of Clarke, Hayden and Ponting. Gilchrist isn't a particularly great player of spin, just a decent one, and Hussey is the same.
