If you mean a free two-week Foxtel Now trial, then yes.Am I right in assuming the usual interwebz places have the action live for this game?
We brought this up on the Podcast, but it's weird how in Cricket its acceptable to pick and drop bowlers to suit conditions but doing so for batsmen is viewed as kind of odd. Batsmen have this whole 'incumbency' thing associated to them and don't get the same horses-for-courses treatment that bowlers get.Warner and Uzi should not play next Test, but they'll also be the 2nd and 3rd biggest run scorers in the Ashes so the selectors are in a bit of a pickle
Yeah this has annoyed me literally since I was a little kidWe brought this up on the Podcast, but it's weird how in Cricket its acceptable to pick and drop bowlers to suit conditions but doing so for batsmen is viewed as kind of odd. No one finds it strange that guys like O Keefe, Agar and Swepson can be on tour to the subcontinent but probably won't feature at all in the Ashes or against South Africa or New Zealand, but the idea of bringing in a specialist spin-only batsmen for the subcontinent who won't feature in those series seems unusual.
After Joe Root ofcourse.Warner and Uzi should not play next Test, but they'll also be the 2nd and 3rd biggest run scorers in the Ashes so the selectors are in a bit of a pickle
I'll have a go at it.I don't think it's that weird.
Batsmen, as a rule, tend to dominate in home/familiar conditions. I can think of very few "away-track bully" batsmen to the extent that it would have made sense to bring them in only for a particular set of conditions. If you are touring somewhere facing unfamiliar conditions, you might as well pick the most in-form, confident guy. Or in this case, the incumbent.
Yeah, Khawaja looks like a bunny right now, but you might as well give him some time to work on his weaknesses, if Australia are looking at him as a long-term prospect. I think he's only really had one series in Asia (was he dropped midway through the SL tour last year?). Who else would they bring in as a "spin specialist"?
Well Australia tried that with S Marsh/KhawajaWe brought this up on the Podcast, but it's weird how in Cricket its acceptable to pick and drop bowlers to suit conditions but doing so for batsmen is viewed as kind of odd.
