*Official* Australia A in New Zealand 2022/23

Athlai

Not Terrible
Solia has only really proven himself to be that sort of player recently. Probably not far off a call up if Mitchell fails

Why Solia not pick by nz? Politics or someone else better than him?
Solia's hasn't made enough FC runs to get picked as a test batting all-rounder, and bowling a too gentle to be picked as a test bowling all-rounder.

White ball all-rounder spots are tied up by Neesham Santner and M Bracewell.

Looked up stats, de Grandhomme at start of test debut 2016-17 season was aged 30, FC 4092 runs @ 35, 118 wickets @ 30. Solia currently 30, FC 2239 runs average only 29, 83 wickets @ 28. Big difference in batting average 35 vs 29. Solia might need a Plunket Shield season averaging 40+ or some big NZ A innings to nudge the selectors.

Watched about 20 to 30 mins of the livestream today at the point where Buckingham got O'Donnell then Abbas then Bruce in quick order.

Was quite strange. Bowler was getting it to jag back in from good length out side off. Not sure if pitch misbehaving, or just exploitation by the bowler.

The ball before O'Donnell got out, he got a ball that cut back in a mile and R'OD left it and it went behind his legs and keeper couldn't reach it, for byes . Then next ball he lets it go, outside off, middle stump gooooone. Doh .

Technical Error by batsman but than lower order followed instruction by their coach so they recoverd to 110 more.

Everyone rolling the arm over this innings, though they all are at least bowling options at domestic level

Either they got the word to see who has some good part timers we can turn into the next Macewell, they've agreed to set a Day 4 chase up again, or both.

Lost track of this series with the Easter break. Seems like a huge deal that Abbas has been thrust into the A team. Wow. Stoked for him. Is the change injury related or just mixing it up? Stead and Larsen obviously see him as the real deal. At this rate he could be in the test side in 12 months.

Mcconchie and a few others got called up for the Pak tour so Abbas was called up.

Tim ward is so frustrating. 1 hundred and 10 50's now averaging ~37. If he could convert to save his life hede have 3-4 hundreds and an average of 40+ which would probably be enough to grab himself an ashes ticket.
