What a bowling performance so far from NZ A. Have Aus A 73-6 after 15 overs.
A really piss-poor performance by the Aussie batsmen, Black Caps have bowled well but still Australian batsmen have aided them with some very dire shot selections, hope Aussie A boy improve in the next game, btw ffs why won't they just drop Adam Voges, he playing woeful cricket atm.

Turns out 235 will be plenty.

Nice to see Gillespie back in the wickets. Would have liked to see Boult play though...maybe next game.

Good win by NZ a. Is Nathan McCullum in the team because of his last name? A list A average of 17, 28 years old... am i missing something?

Economical spinner, handy lower-order bat and electric fielder.

OK I have just been out of NZ for a while now and have never seen him play, you are right he does have a economical list A record.

Nathan McCullum can bat abit too and is pretty decent in the field, his game is suited for the shorter form. Guptill, Fulton & Elliott have all been playing well lately and they all continued their consistency once again, plus fringe NZ bowlers Gillespie and Patel looked to have bowled well(no coverage:() Someone had to miss out and NZ's surplus is in middle order bats and seam bowlers so Hay & Boult were left out, expect them to straight swap for Redmond and Scott come next game. Would be interested to hear some Aussie opinions on the batting order, Voges batted at 3 in the "Tests" against India 'A' and now at 6 in the one-dayers? David Hussey surely better suited batting between 4-6?

I'm Shocked tbh. I know its only one game, but so much has been made over the years about the great depth of Australian cricket and of course equally the lack of depth in NZ. So to see NZ A give their Aussie counterparts a good old fashion spanking does surprise me.

Am I the only person that thinks that the depth in Aussie cricket has all either gotten old or injured in the last couple of years?

Forgot to mention Reece Young - 4 catches and a stumping. He's been in pretty good form too

Yeah good on him, I've never really rated him that highly but he's exceeded my expectations.

BARNES OUT
Obviously being English I have not had the chance to watch either Phil Hughes or George Bailey bat. Anyone have any footage of either, or fill me in on their styles please ?
Phil "The Prince" Hughes: Left hander, stodgy (ie. short). Crouches a bit over the ball and seems to use a bat that's a touch too long. (It could just be his height). Handy with the gloves. From what I've seen of him he's a bit of a grafter, but can hit some good drives and plays the leg-side well.

George "I don't have a nickname for him" Bailey: Right hander, bit of a go-er. Has a rep around Aus for having awesome talent but lacks a bit between the ears (much like his Tasmanian counterpart Travis Birt). Generally hits his best shots over the leg side but isn't too bad through the off. From what I've seen he doesn't transfer his weight well when driving.

Jack-Mac or T_C to correct me, no doubt.

Why didn't Bailey play? You'd have to select next match, wouldn't you?

Doherty was a positive and I suppose White would be slightly happy bowlers 9 overs 1/35 and 42 (72). Bollinger good figures too. The rest of the Aussies wouldn't be too happy.

Bailey should replace Voges in the next game imo, i think guys like North and Hussey being the more experienced batsmen need to bat more responsibly and hold the innings together.

Bowling wise too all the Aussie fast bowlers looked pretty pedestrian expect Bollinger, they weren't bowling according to their fields and lot of no-balls and wides were bowled, so they need to work on all that, they don't have much time for all that though as they are scheduled to play India A tomorrow.

I think it's more that Australia overrated the depth they did have. Because players performed in the best domestic comp in the world they all seemed to think they would be world beaters...unfortunately it doesnt work like that. And no matter how good they think their domestic comp is, international cricket is always going to be a big step up.

Equally I think everyone has underrated New Zealand's depth in the last few years. We have some very good players coming through. Broom, Ryder, Southee, Guptill, Hay, Todd etc...not to mention all the 19/20 year old's coming through (Williamson, Boult, Worker etc), though you should have better knowledge of them than others on this forum. Any light to shed on how the young guys are shaping up? And Guptill too, who I believe plays at your club?

Why is Luke Pomersbach not in the Aussie A squad??
Not good enough?

He does only average 24.54 in domestic One Dayers...perhaps they see him as a prospect for the longer version (where his record is much stronger).

He has still only played 12 FC games though, perhaps they thought other more established players deserved a shot ahead of him?
