Loving Sanga's batting today.
Thushara is his proper last name or the one he likes to be called by. But when converting his whole name to english Mirando is seen as his last name, as it is his final name.sangakkara you are a legend. Wish I was able to watch this.
and whats up with cricinfo commentary having thushara and mirando? Like it keeps on saying: tanvir, or whoever, to Mirando and then it says thushara gets a single. Is it meant to be like that or is it a mistake?
thanksThushara is his proper last name or the one he likes to be called by. But when converting his whole name to english Mirando is seen as his last name, as it is his final name.
Thats as simple as I can explain it without getting into the details of what each name means.
We are solely missing Maharoof. He's the best hitter we had for a long long time. Only Rumesh Ratnayake had been a similar hitter, but Maharoof is way better than Ratnayake. Once Maharoof comes in, with Malinga and Thiushara becoming the 4ths seamer, batting will be quite strong.302 is decent enough score, but man we need a finisher bad. Thushara did ok, but he way too hit and miss to rely on to finish innings. Really need Kapu batting lower or Mathews or Kosela Kulasekara in the side pretty bad. Kosela probaly the better option as a pure finisher with his bowling a bonus. Lost about 10-15 runs at the death there.
bit of an overreaction maybe?Mendis takes his second and now has 10 ODI wickets at 13.50 - is this Asia Cup the start of the era of Mendis?
i agree the indian batting has done very well so far, i am saying the bowling needs to be more of a factor for india before we can pronounce them firm favourites or something....as it is, both pakistan and sri lanka are well capable of beating india...They can in this tournament. They don't have to worry much about facing quality bowling. I'd take India's bowling, as bad as it's been, over the other teams. Which team really worries you? Like we saw in the Pak/Ind match, India won chasing a target of 300 in essentially 15 overs!
Naturlich.bit of an overreaction maybe?
based on your post, If Gambhir and Raina would have got dismissed at 56 and 16 respectively then Kapali would have gone for 25, so how would the game been totally differentAlok Kapali's innings last night was immense, the fastest ODI century by a Bangladeshi batsman. Highlights on YouTube if people are interested.
What impressed me the most was the effortless nature by which Kapali hit his runs. It seemed as though he was barely striking the ball and it was racing to the boundary, definitely good signs for him. The only negative from his innings is that it should have ended on 25, and then 100, but fair play to him for making the most of his chances and getting Bangladesh to a pretty good score. I thought he should have been given MOTM instead of Raina, but so often it's not the case when a brilliant innings comes in a losing cause.
Of course it was disappointing that Bangladesh couldn't manage to hold their catches otherwise Gambhir would have been gone for 56 and Raina for 16, the game could have been totally different. I'm still pretty pleased with how the boys went, especially Tamim Iqbal at the top of the order. He's been in excellent form this year, averaging 36 with a strike rate of 75, and it hasn't been just against minnows either, with a couple 60's against Pakistan and now this half-century against India. He's developing as a cricket and it bodes very well for the future of Bangladesh cricket.
He not really consistent enough to bat at 7 though. He will always be very hit and miss. You need someone that is reilable at 7, not someone tha can occasionally get going. We are solely missing Maharoof. He's the best hitter we had for a long long time. Only Rumesh Ratnayake had been a similar hitter, but Maharoof is way better than Ratnayake. Once Maharoof comes in, with Malinga and Thiushara becoming the 4ths seamer, batting will be quite strong.
