They're a decent bowling side but the batting, Anwar aside, is absolute crap.

Pandya definitely looks like one of those too cool for you alpha male wannabe new age Indian cricketers like Dhawan, Jadeja and Kohli

How's Bumrash bowling those cutters/slower ones? Seam is spinning horizontally lol.

Good to see Bhuvi swinging it at 135-140(!)kph today. Obviously he isn't moving it as much as when he debuted but he looks much better than a year or so back.

Got nothing against Bhuvi but I just get the impression that the speed guns used in this Asia Cup are a bit off.
Irfan has been clocked consistently at 140 plus when his usual pace is within 130-140.
Amir has been clocked consistently hitting 150 which is about 10 kph faster than his usual speed.

You mean the brats, bullies and braggers?

Btw is 'intent' the mantra of the new age cool Indian team? VVS Laxman keeps mentioning it in every sentence to make a point.
Either the player showed intent or he lacked intent.

Not sure about that. Wahab hit around 151 which is like as highest as he can go. Amir on the higher 140s is normal I guess. Taskin hit mid 140s which is normal for him. Bhuvi has increased his pace recently. Irfan's one is tricky though. Also Mashrafe in mid 130s looked a tad higher.

Laxman probably lies in bed the night before trying to memorize his cliches. But yes, intent is the new mantra.

Was it not McGrath who said that speed guns tended to underestimate taller bowlers?

As it is, I don't know under what theory we are keeping Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq out of the T20 team. Our batting does not lack for guys who can accelerate, we need guys who can stay and build a damn innings, Right now, the top order is so brittle, we start at essentially 0/3

I'm not surprised why the fast bowlers have been bowling faster than usual. You only have a maximum of four overs, so you might as well give it your all, but bowling in T20 is more about varying your balls.

Yeah

“Speed guns measure in straight line.

“The taller you are, if you’re a hit the deck bowler — you’re coming down so I reckon you could easily have added a fair bit more pace.

“It’s funny because some deliveries it bounced and really went through well and Heals (Ian Healy) or Gilly (Adam Gilchrist) took it above their head. You thought, ‘that’s got to be quick and you look up and it’s 131km/h.

He's dead wrong though.
Speed guns measure the speed of the ball at the instant of release, and the difference in angles between taller and shorter bowlers doesn't really affect this.
The reason why he got the carry he did was because he was tall, had a very upright action and consistently landed the ball on the seam.
That doesn't mean he bowled any faster.

Edit: I can't confirm this, but I think a taller bowler would actually be slower off the pitch due to the steeper angle of incidence meaning more energy is expended in impact. I don't think the effect would be very large though.

I prefer Bhuvi bowling with the speed up rather than not. He will get better with control, hopefully. The earlier version of Bhuvi was just asking go be whacked.
