The angle at which Lee is bowling, and the fact that he's not getting close to the stumps, I thought would be a clue to the umpire....

And surely he should be positioned behind the stumps to see properly whether the ball pitches in line. If he's not sure, he should err in favour of the batsman.
Definitely one of those 'easier said than done' things, particularly at 150Km/h. :)

Would've bowled Lee for his full four overs. The batsmen could hardly lay a bat on him, game is still very much alive if the Eagles build a partnership from here. Remember last night the Cobra's 2/14 off 3 overs and still managed 184.

The Cobra's have a very good batting line up and weren't up against the Australian Test bowling lineup.

Dippenar a poor out but not helped by the day-old chocolate pudding the groundsman substituted for the deck. Be surprised if they make a game of this now.

Good point. I'm just not a fan of letting a game drift. Kill the game whilst it is still alive.

Prefer to see Lee bowl the Eagles out for 60 odd, rather than watch them crawl to 4/110 off 20 overs.

Looks like you should get your 60 out anyway.

First good look at Dan Smith, tbh. Seems a neat 'keeper, that stumping was a gimme but he did it very smoothly. Can see why he keeps getting a game for them. Is he generally this good for NSW in SS/FRC?

Kat = MOM.

So all that 'broken computer' stuff was just a cover up, he's actually in India?

Sums Dan Smith up nicely. A 'neat' keeper, does little more than a solid job. Useful with the bat, but is decent club level at best. NSW fans may expect more from Smith, but he is simply filling the void left by Haddin and performs what is expected of a backup wicketkeeper.

Will face a stiff challenge this season from the Crosthwaite brothers to retain his position.

Don't rate Smith with the gloves at all, for the record.

Anyways, don't know how this pitch would hold up for the next game. Ball will be going backwards off the pitch it's that slow.

Music to the ears of the Vic guys who have to face Dirk, though. If they have to face him, this is the best possible deck to have to do it on.

Yeah, I'm no keeping expert but he drops the odd clanger and he tends to have to dive a lot which suggests his footwork isn't where it should be. Picked on the back of his batting exploits for Wests rather than his glovework.

Seems to be up high all the time, doesn't stay low enough. Anyways, pretty ordinary performance by the Eagles, however I think with such a young squad it's not the worst result. They can come out with their next game and just relax, and learn something from their trip.

This Eagles team is bloody weak which is a bit of a worry for SA cricket if it manages to qualify as one of their two top teams.
