So Ashwin at seven? That’s only one fast bowler? If you mean Pant at five and then Ashwin at six, that’s too high for both of them IMO. I just don’t see how he makes sense.Eh I think he's angling for a slightly different role in the team to Jadeja - the batting all-rounder who bats 6 or 7 and bowls some useful fill-in overs, rather than the critical strike bowler who is also a very dangerous lower order batsmen. I think there's room in the team for both in certain conditions; Axar's spot would be more directly imperiled by Jadeja for mine despite havinga literal single digit averagean average just under 11.
Beyond else, a lower-middle order of Pant then Ashwin-Washington-Jadeja would be extremely annoying to encounter.
I mean, just swap out Axar for Jadeja in the lineup India have picked for this game and you'll see what I mean.So Ashwin at seven? That’s only one fast bowler? If you mean Pant at five and then Ashwin at six, that’s too high for both of them IMO. I just don’t see how he makes sense.
I see. So a turning track specialist. Seems a waste to pick him to bat that low if he’s not gonna get many overs.I mean, just swap out Axar for Jadeja in the lineup India have picked for this game and you'll see what I mean.
Yeah, I'm not saying he'd be picked all the time, just that it's not that hard to envisage a scenario in the near future where he'd get picked. I certainly think you'd get more out of an all-rounder type on such pitches than a specialist third spinner when you probably want the bulk of the overs to be handled by Ashwin and Jadeja.I see. Go full HB. Play 9 all rounders. That's the mantra to succeed.Wonder if he could be played as a specialist bat who can throw a few down...
actually, in all tracks he has played in so far, he doesn't have any obvious technical issues at allI see. So a turning track specialist. Seems a waste to pick him to bat that low if he’s not gonna get many overs.
NZ are totally getting that when they tour here, plus Axar at 9. Pant-Jaddu-Washy-Ash-Axar and token seamer at 11.Eh I think he's angling for a slightly different role in the team to Jadeja - the batting all-rounder who bats 6 or 7 and bowls some useful fill-in overs, rather than the critical strike bowler who is also a very dangerous lower order batsmen. Oh that’s what I was saying. Like I don’t like him that low, taking up a bowlers spot when he’s never gonna get that many overs. I’d almost rather they try him out much higher as a specialist bat (especially if the Indian batting struggles hard in a place like England).actually, in all tracks he has played in so far, he doesn't have any obvious technical issues at all
good in bouncy tracks and turning tracks
if he does well in swinging conditions, he could be good enough to bat at any top/middle order spot
The Age of Wisdom is finally here.Go full HB. Play 9 all rounders. That's the mantra to succeed.
Oh ffs. You don’t need three spinners and you certainly never need FOUR.NZ are totally getting that when they tour here, plus Axar at 9. Pant-Jaddu-Washy-Ash-Axar and token seamer at 11.
Of course, you do. When 3 of them are genuinely good with the bat and the 4th is useful.Oh ffs. You don’t need three spinners and you certainly never need FOUR.
