Two balls later, ball skids through rather than bouncing. It'll definitely be interesting to see if the inconsistency in bounce gets more pronounced as the game goes on

I think we've thrown a few wickets away but I already see signs of the pitch doing some odd things. 350 should be a good score on this wicket even if it feels underwhelming from 2/230.
yep. shouldnt lose with 350 put on, unless the 2nd inn is dire from aus.

aus bowling attack is excellent with Boland back in for G and cummins great MCG record.

It might settle down too, which happens with many drop in wickets.
Yeah MCG in particular can do this, but it's hard to really know what the MCG will be like these days because it's changed so much in the last four years. Gone from the least bowler friendly wicket to regularly the most friendly

This has looked as flat as the 2018 wicket tbh.

It reminds me a lot of that 2018 wicket but there's more inconsistency in bounce here IMO (it's certainly grassier). Lots of batsmen getting unexpectedly hit in the thigh/gonads and obviously that wicket just now was substantial extra bounce. Good for batting otherwise though, Aus are probably only going to be slightly above par if that

Par for which batting lineup?

can they stop spamming this utterly useless speed graphic
Like the BBL coverage and the spamming of sponsors every time a 4 or 6 is hit, it is freaking irritating to the max.

Interest here for mine is whether Smith can get a ton before running out of partners. Aussies definitely speeding things up since the period they were eking out a couple of runs per over. For mine Australia on top, need another 100 or so and see how the Indian batting lineup deal with the conditions.

Hmm. I'd be much more comfortable with 400 or more. I'm sick of this team constantly handing the initiative back to the opposition due to the batsmen struggling to put on big scores, often leaving us in this position when the new ball is due.

Gilchrist and Haddin really changed expectations. The gold standard for keepers before them was Ian Healy, who we were happy averaged 30 and took most chances behind the stumps. Carey did really well today and is a fine keeper/ batsman at this level.
