This approach has worked against Bumrah quite well till now. All the “proper cricket” wasn’t doing ****

It put Bumrah off his length. Made him bowl full, then wide, and then a couple of slower balls too. It’s 100% worked. May not be a sustainable approach but can’t deny this is exactly what he was going for.

Don't get me wrong, this is the point of assertive batting, move the field, get the bowler off his lengths, effect the confidence. That's what aggressive batting does and is supposed to do.

He's changed the field, probably saved his wicket by Rohit removing the slip. It's just the reverse ramps were a bit much, imagine the criticism on the debut if it went the other way.

But well done to him, can't let bowlers settle into a rhythm. And that's what a lot of the top order guys have been allowing Bumrah to do.
