**Official** 4th Test at Melbourne, 26-30 Dec 2024

Now I'm convinced this will end 3-1 to Australia just based off that last hour

Neither team is coming back from this if they lose from here and it looks like that team will be India

Both teams have tired bowling attacks and washed up veterans but the difference is in the captaincy imo. Cummins has been a step ahead of fat Rohit every single game.

Worst Indian test captain ever. Wouldn't have stood a chance of getting the captaincy if not for Mumbai lobby.

Whatever it takes!!!
I felt chasing less than 250 India would be slight favorites, 250-280 was about evens and anything more Australia are obvious favorites. But if they do get bowled out and leave India a chase of around 350 in 85 overs, it will be interesting given how the old ball seems to have gone and what we have seen the heavy roller do to 5th day wickets.

Also the pitch is incredibly docile once it gets old, so u cant fault Aus. tactics. their batters threw it all way and have no defensive game whatsoever. T20 has messed with peoples heads and modern day batters dont know defense.

Hopefully these two can last another 10-15 overs tomorrow.
Honestly why even bother risking 10 overs that can be used to get India out? I would argue that you have enough runs to make a victory push already.

There was a thread when Rohit was announced as the captain, taking over from Virat for all formats and I said we may well look back and yearn for Virat's captaincy. Did not expect that to be this pronounced and has been since very soon into this tenure. We have basically never had a plan B or a plan hatched by thinking on the feet during the game. We won the T20 WC coz Bumrah was great and SKY secured an amazing catch. That is all it was and probably because nerves got to the poor Proteas as well, who probably bear a bigger burden of failing in KO games than we do.

I am hoping against hope something changes tomorrow but honestly, the Mumbai lobby + Ganguly have ruined what was a generational Indian team full of talent. :(

Well what a day and I've only been able to catch up on it in this thread. Seems like each side is trying to gift the other side the win. Another 3rd innings wobble by Aus and India not quite cleaning up the tail after removing the top order. Aus win and draw probably the favoured options but all 3 results still possible. So many questions - is Starc fit? what about the rest of the bowlers? Is Lyon getting himself into the match and series? Will India's bat deep side get them a win or at least drop anchor for a draw?

The only sure thing is that we have to drop Marsh.

Are Aussie fans out here not confident enough in the score already to push for a win?
**** no. Too reliant on Boland. Starc is cooked and will just leak runs, Lyon is done and Cummins will try his best but looks a bit tired too. We have a very compelling recent trend of failing utterly to bowl sides out on the last day, especially later in series' with tired bowlers

And make no mistake, if there are no major changes to this Australian team between now and the next 12 months, the Ashes is going back to England.

England have a fresh new pace attack now and looked to have sorted their batting as well.

This Australian team is too old. It's just that the Indian team have a couple of massive black spots that are holding this team back from capitalizing on this opportunity. I'm convinced that without fat Rohit, we would be winning this series.

Even the Aussie commentators on Fox alluded to the fact that the India do not know when and how to push the seniors out.

Yeah but batting longer to eat overs is also highly risky

Indian batting can't handle preassure bar lower order, it's gonna be 100-5 by default, you just need 5 lower order wickets
