Maybe India's bowling and plans aren't the best but Head is seriously difficult to bowl to when in form like this. Feels like there's barely any margin for error when he's cutting and square cutting like this.

A lot like the ton he made at this same ground in 2017-18 Ashes. From memory it took him nearly 300 rocks
Bit of a different innings though. I remember that one and it looked like he was going to get a century come hell or high-water from the moment he came in. This one I was surprised he lasted two overs.

This amplifies the value Shami brought to this bowling, was so instrumental in our 2018 win. Now the blueprint for any side is to see off Bumrah and score runs off against others.

According to Craddock, the bowler the Aus batsmen actually historically worried before this series wasn't Bumrah - it was Shami

Smith has always had a strong bottom hand grip but he used to be still at delivery and played very straight

He’s now moving and flicking across the line

Last 10-15 minutes have been much better from Smith. Looks to have some idea where the ball might go off his bat

Smith owes Head a beer or two. Head playing so well has allowed Smith to get his groove back with no run rate presssure
... Yep!

He's basically just slipstreamed off Head and allowed Head to demoralise the bowlers & make them lose that slight bit of confidence.

Imagine if Smith was batting with McSweeney whilst he was chewing up all those deliveries.

Classic hit the deck bowler, ideal for these conditions.

For any side to win in Aus, you need at least two bowlers who are relevant to the conditions and have adequate amount of experience.

We've seen how Broad, Anderson and Woakes despite having sufficient amount of experience had to toil hard without much success there. You cannot rely on just Bumrah here to win.
