Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. We've been wishing for a hard, bouncy WACA wicket every summer for years. It's often promised, but rarely eventuates, and I doubt we're deliberately negating what would be an advantage as far as home conditions go.

We had a 4 man bowling attack for the better part of a decade and a half and had no real problems. Yeah we don't have McGrath or Warne, but we have 4 bowlers that are better than Gillespie and Lee.

Mitch Marsh isn't capable of batting in the test top 6. But hel be thrown back in there anyway

Especially when one of those four is Lyon. He's doing what Swann did for us early in the decade. Absolutely no need to mess with the batting for bowling reasons.

Nah I don't rate Dizzy all that highly. Was good for a very short time but wasn't exceptional. Lee made him look great though by being the single most overrated test bowler in living memory.

I 100% agree with this. But if the selectors are keen to play M Marsh then I think giving Bancroft the gloves is the only way it can work.

Dizzys dodgy double will go down as one of the greatest night watchmen innings in history. He still talks about the fatigue you get in the 150s and the nervous 190s. Last test he played too.

Cant remember his bowling really.

I laughed, but other knocks have came against better bowling attacks in more important matches


Tudor's 99* is a good un. Was literally just randomly playing like a top order bat for a day. Dizzy never really took the bowlers by the scruff of their neck even when hitting runs

I like to think of the current fasties as the new Gillespie X 3 (still waiting on patto) in that after a horrible early period of injuries they finally get over it and stay on the park till the end of their careers.
