Yeah, without Jones, both Flintoff and Harmison had to be firing at the same time for England to be a force this Series. Sadly for England, Flintoff hasn't really fired (although he's bowled OK) while Harmison was terrible for the two games that really mattered.

Harmison seemed unfit to me, physically and mentally. Always huffing and puffing. I would have thought the England guys should have been put on fairly rigorous fitness regimes before entering this series

His always been like that though, his a tart, expect him to be up for the West Indies or India this summer. Cement his place for another two years than spend the best part of the remaining two years not justifying his selection.

Vettori is, without question, an all rounder. If a bowler or keeper averages in the mid 20s with the bat I think you can call them an all rounder. A very good allrounder will average more than 30 with the bat and less than 30 with the ball.
Meaning Flintoff isn't very good then, agreed.

His averages are swayed by the fact he was picked almost ten years ago when he was pretty average at test level.

Well a recent article in the paper here speculated Flintoff could end up as a scarred mentally after England's woeful performance and I guess this was kind of expected when you give him everything to worry about. I'm surprised he hasn't given up the captaincy, but then he is a proud man so he won't.

Anybody want to have a crack of a possible XI in three and a half years time?

*Strauss
Cook
Bell
Collingwood
KP
Flintoff
Jones/Read
?
?
Hamison/Anderson
Panesar

Didn't include the lieks of Trescothick, Vaughan, Simon Jones or Hoggard as I am not sure they will be around then. Giles should be long gone by then.
It's only two and a half years, if that helps at all. 8-)
Like you, I'd expect the current top 5 to all be playing. Dunno whether Bell will be at 5 or further down the order though. Also like you, I wouldn't care to guess who'll be bowling alongside Panesar &, if still fit, Flintoff. Broad seems to be made of the right stuff, and I like Mahmood's attitude, although obviously he has a long way to go. Surely Jones the keeper will be history by then though.

Not my fault he was an obese waster back then and now he's just a fat one.

It's not like he was 16 back then, pathetic excuse.

If anything he was lucky back then as he managed to avoid Australia due to injuries, which would have seen his averages plummet even more severely.

They'd have got lower?

You're lucky I gave you that escape clause to pick on as you clearly have no argument to my great point and wanted to avoid the issue.

Ron Baxter win's, again.

You lose.

Again.
