Come on Gilly, show these Poms you've still got it. That's what I'd most like to see in this test (outside of not losing :)).

Yeah it'd be great to see him come out tomorrow and make runs. Not sure if it's a great pitch for him as most batsmen seem to be complaining about it being a bit slow, and Gilchrist likes the ball coming on. Obviously when he's at his best he can score anywhere though, so there's always hope, and it's certainly the sort of situation he usually thrives in, with the team in trouble.

Wow the exact second Ashes ends, the first delivery is bowled. Amazing! I will have watched 20 hours of non stop cricket when its over.

Yay me!

Another great day of cricket, pretty even, perhaps England slightly ahead on points. For the match, the draw is looking likely unless we see any serious batting collapses, which I can't really see happening tbh.

Bowl Aus out for 400, get 300 quickly by end of tomorrow and bowl Aus out on fifth day.

Yeah....think a draw might be the winner.

Is it just me, or is the cricinfo commentary atypically parochial this series?
Haha, I just made a post on exactly that subject in the Ashes Commentary thread. It's been bugging me all series, but particularly today.

Clarke & Gilchrist looked quite good there - England will have to get them within the 1st hour otherwise they will score too quickly and take the chance of a result out of it.

I've only checked in briefly now and then, as obviously quite a few times Channel Nine has stayed until the end of play, but the times I've looked it's a bit of a cheerleading fest. I think all three of the commentators, Will Luke, Jenny Thompson and Martin Williamson are English.

Thank god I don't have to rely on it, as I'd find it fairly grating after a while. Perhaps they're aware that most of those using the commentary are gonna be from outside Australia - although there might still be those in the state the test's being played in.

BTW, how's that working in the other states these days? Here in Victoria there seems to be more of a trend towards showing the matches on TV anyway, I assume because they've found the TV advertising, cgi marketing etc makes it all worth it in the end. Or do they still restrict the other states to the last session only unless it's a sellout?

Did anybody consider Read's black gloves, vs Jones' stump coloured gloves at the selection table? Cost the team maybe two run outs to date! :D
Hussey's run-out call was horribly close wasn't it (and probably out), in spite of Jones' gloves being a tad obscuring after the fact. I had no idea what result the third umpire was going to come up with, although the longer it got, the more chance I thought there was of a not-out decision.

Used to be that the third umpire would always give the batsman the benefit of the doubt when there was a gap in the frames that impeded an absolutely clear decision, but it seems to me now that umpires are actually making an intuitive judgement based on what happened between the frames - so a few of these that used to be given not-out are resulting in dismissals these days. Thank god for Anderson's touch-high throw and Hussey's almighty leap though - needless to say it was pretty unnecessary to come back for that third when Anderson pretty much had the ball in his hand already.

Yet another great day of Test Match cricket, some great batting from Ponting & Hussey (again) and some top class bowling from Hoggy on a road. England probably take the day on points and the match is still well & truly alive after the loss of both Punter & Hussey.

Clarke looked to be batting well, and Gilly certainly seemed a lot more comfortable against the around the wicket tactic. As mentioned ealier, i'm hoping for a Bangalore type partnership from the 2 of them :)

Can't wait for yet another day of Ashes Cricket :)

Good stuff! Yeah, I've been pretty good. Poor India, they really are copping a bath - I was pumping up Laxman the other day and he goes for a golden in his return...

I suppose it's Autstralia's day, but England are still well under control. If Flintoff can get rid of Gilchrist early tomorrow morning than a win is still a possibility. If only we had Monty for the final day...
