*Official* 2024 South Africa tour of New Zealand: 2 tests

I reckon he used that every time! Here's a page from one of the programmes back in the '90s that I've seen pop up online a few times:

But a few of them went through some different songs during their careers. I'm sure McMillan had Return of the Mack, while Fleming had the Dandy Warhols' Bohemian Like You at one stage.
Yeah, McMillan had Return of the Mack for domestic Cricket Max too. Cairns used to come out to Back in Black by ACDC and Spearman used Macho Man by Village People.

Gary Stead must have been in the ODI squad but never played any ODI games so never got to walk out to the Boxer.

Those are some great song choices.

Huge game for Will Young. This is a bit mean, but you don't get a more advantageous opportunity to bat than this I think. South Africa are depleted and will not be feeling great. I suspect Young has faced more challenging attacks playing for NZ A and maybe Central. This ain't the real South Africa, though they'll probably win now I've called them ****.

The middle order is crowded and Young needs to go absolutely huge. His entire career bar just before the shoulder injury he has lacked ruthlessness, scoring 70s on green decks against good attacks one week then following it with a breezy 60 on a motorway against some shithouse team. This is his opportunity to absolutely crush someone when the odds are in his favour. He is more talented than Henry Nicholls, and he needs to show it.

I had the highlights of that The Eden Park ODI that we speaking about on vcr. I just have vivid memories of Cullinan just running down to Vettori and hitting him on the top tier.

Was Rhodes' twirler and running back catch on this tour? Just can't seem to find at anywhere on the internet. For all his great catches this one was super special.

I know we aren't giving the SA team a chance but there is still so much to play for in that Top 7. Let's hope a couple of the boys stand up. 20 wickets is still a tough ask though.
I don't care about the wickets, unfortunately none of these bowlers are making it into a first or second team XI.... but I want to see tons from the batsmen! I want to see well crafted innings against top bowlers.

Not a fan of dropping Santer if Stead really believes he is our best spinner has to play otherwise you cant expect him to come in when the surface suits and instantly perform after missing mulitiple tests needs consistent game time to develop as a test spinner.

Ok so SA played 0.5 spinners at the Bay and are now playing 2.5 spinners in Hamilton.

And when's the last time a keeper opened (in the first innings)?

Wags been working on those Lock-like quick offbreaks
I hope he's been working on something. It would be good to see him take a few wickets, even if I don't rate him being selected.

It'd also be great to see some success for O'Rourke.

Otherwise, both teams selections look a fair old mess.
