Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet (that I can find) but Tahu has signed with rugby for 4 years

Shows why you should never trust the vast majority of footballers when he said he would probably be bored with rugby and couldn't see himself playing it, then lo and behold he joins the 'dark side' so to speak.

Listening to the radio yesterday afternoon and they were talking to the Waratahs GM or CEO (Someone to do with them anyway) and apparently Tahu did that deliberatley to throw the media off the track.. He has no manager apparently and was in negotiations with the help of a family Friend and didnt want the media all over it.. Just goes to show that its not the players that go to the media with all these rumours, its the sharks of managers who start them...

ARU said today they arent all that keen. He's free to negotiate with the Super 14 sides but the ARU wont get involved, kinda like what happened with Schifcofske going to the Reds...

Looks like if Tate or Grothe want to sign for Rugby they are going to do it cus they want to play Rugby. Rather then them getting a massive amount of money, as the ARU have pretty much said they have no money left for a big name and signing and they are more interested in re-signing current Wallibies. You probably find that the Super 14 side will only be able to offer a similar amount to NRL sides, so i doubt either will go as im sure a couple NRL clubs will be able to offer more.

Tate will go, next year will be a real changing of the guard at Brisbane as it looks as though Berrigan, Civoniceva and Tate will be gone.

Tate will be offered a one off take it or leave it offer which is expected to be considerably smaller than what he'll get from Union, to be fair he's not that good anyway. He'll fit right in in the 15 a side game, he cant pass.

Berrigan is in a similar situation, there probably isnt enough money to offer him what he's currently on, his current contract was signed as a try scoring centre and any new offer is only going to be as a hooker/bench player and hes expressed interest in going to England.

Civoniceva wants to go to England too, he has a Fijian passport so he wont take up a spot under their quota system or however its done. Basically he's in his last year of the NRL.

Yeah his shoulder and neck problems have been his problem and his speed is one major assest.

How long will Lady Luck put up with this ?
IMO if he were a lesser player he would be gone by now, but since he is their Golden Boy nothing will happen, whilst I don't live in Sydney but I would be fairly certain he would be one of the 'Princes' of the Sydney media. IMO this is like the Ben Cousins saga in AFL (and let's never mention that 'sport' in this thread again).
