NZ could have JWH, Fisher-Harris and Leota up front on Solomona off the bench, Can see the Roos getting monstered again. We also look skinny in the halves.

Panthers have pulled out of WCC.

I suppose it would be pretty embarrassing if we won 4 consecutive premierships and lost 3 consecutive WCC’s.

I’m also planning to watch the Super League GF. Will be curious to see how much difference there is between the two comps.

WCC is a load of junk tbf a good decision from the Riff.
It really is sad that its so meaningless. I mean held in the pre-season (for the NRL) and during the regular season (for the Super League) the next year with different team makeups?

I think it could have been good if they did it differently but its been too long now, it doesn’t have worthwhile history or pride behind it to ever be a proper thing.

Yeah he is. They've picked up young Iongi from Penrith who's meant to be a gun, but he was behind Edwards and Laurie, understandably.

There was talk Gutho would play either at 14, where I think his value is sort of self-evident - he can cover pretty much everywhere from nine to one - or at 13 as a link between the backs and forwards.

I could see him doing that link job tbh, but while he's a good defender, there's a big difference having constant collision compared with being the last line. Like, he could do a lot of damage in the middle of the park given his passing game and speed, but there's got to be question marks as to whether his body can adjust to the different role. He's not an overly big bloke by NRL standards.

Either role sort of helps the balance of the side though. If he plays at 13 it means you can carry all forwards on the bench as he can cover any injury in the back line, or if he gets hurt then you have a middle on the bench to cover for him.

If I were Nathan Cleary, I would be telling them that if they say anything to her, I will absolutely leave.

Although I did see this mentioned the other day, and I thought it was a joke, so maybe the papers have just picked up on it and run with it? I mean, surely it's a joke...
100% its not their business to get involved at all.

According to a Sky News article (reliable…)

“Mary will come back here, I’d say, to be closer to him,” Fletcher told the crowd.

“It’s my job and the CEO of football, Matt Cameron, to extend (Cleary's contract) as far as we can.

“Matt’s job also is he’s got to bring Mary back to Australia.”

Said at a fan event.

Sounds like it could be joking.

Also funnily enough article is titled - Mary Fowler's emphatic response to rumours she will move home for Nathan Cleary after Panthers unveiled plan to 'bring Mary back'

Quality clickbait since the only mention of her is winning a soccer game.

Is this any of Kusher's business? Besides Cleary gets $1.3m/year and Fowler $284k (source google - make of that what you want). Though I do agree living in Europe v Penrith would make up most of the difference. I can understand Penrith wanting to keep Cleary at all costs and saying anything to achieve that. But really it does just sound like things you say to the fans and footy admins still don't realise they sound like bogans. I don't think either of them would be moving. Could be quite convenient for them. Their seasons occur at different times of the year. Nathan could be winging it to England now.

iirc Ivan said he’s delaying his shoulder surgery over the offseason to spend more time with Fowler over there.

It would be kinda cool but heartbreaking at the same time to have a prime Aussie go and dominate Super League.

I’m wondering - when was the last time a Super League player was selected for the National Team?

Wouldn't the more likely scenario be Cleary moving to Europe to follow her? Plenty of Super League and French Rugby clubs with big cash.

Yeah probably. Would still be a decent pay cut unless he swaps codes.

Think the top super league players are making ~800k vs the 1.3 mill he’s currently on

Oh for sure a decent cut for him, but if we are talking about clubs having money to 'lure' a players partner, Man City have a wee bit of cash floating around.
