Another thing was why the hell are they trying 4-3-3 (or whatever they actually supposed to be, a newish formation anyway) and then he brings in a load of new players to play it, so basically nobody has an idea how the new guys will then play when England inevitably revert back to their usual 4-4-2 and they're in different positions. We also don't know if the formation will work because they are not enough of the usual team to see if they fitted in or not.

I can't believe people actually travel to stadia and pay to watch England play friendlies.

That's exactly what i said to myself at half time. Knew that game was a bore-draw, was hoping the dutch would nick it in the end. At least they could pass the ball.

Yep, it's ridiculous, he obviously has something against Downing as well. Left/right side midfield is a pretty quiet position so you need a full 90 minutes just so the guy playing there gets involved a few times, not 30 minutes when the game drifts and he barely touches the ball. Bringing on Jenas & Dyer with 10 minutes left is similarly pointless (they're a waste of space anyway). Eriksson seems more and more inept every time England play.

Oh and Neville just tried a clever flick... as if he didn't look like a tit to begin with.
The FA pay him £4m a season, why?

Maybe he will be truely be worth that amount when England actually win something.

I read some previous posts about how good Graham Poll is, but for a man people are saying is so good, why didn't he ever send Wayne Rooney off for his 100 word abuse aimed at Poll, Rooney is lucky he isn't a rugby or cricketer.

Mr Erikkson clearly doesn't want Andy Johnson to play for England, so lets play him wide right where he doesn't play so i can leave him out of my next squad....
So then why didn't he not pick him anyway?

Hey he left out Wright-Phillips and Defoe out of the Euro 2004 squad when they had earned the spot.

I don't think they had done enough to earn their spot, especially Wright-Phillips who hadn't actually played for England at thar point.

I see Arsenal played tonight without a single British player on the bench or in the first eleven. Absolutely disgraceful, how anyone English can support a bunch of diving, whining, foreign, disrespectful, cheating mercenaries is completely beyond me. Just when I thought they couldn't get any worse they go and hit a new low. I hope I'm around when the club football bubble finally bursts, it will be a great day for sport when that happens.

But aren't nearly all Premiership sides just that, but to a slightly lesser extent?

Yeah. Chelsea under Vialli stuck out an all-foreign XI 4 or 5 years ago.

Obviously no English players isn't ideal, but the real politik situation is that the top half-dozen clubs are unlikely to be fielding all British teams in the foreseeable future.

One of the advantages of supporting the Argyle is that you don't have to watch two overpayed, overhyped old men argue about each other, before watching their teams spend 90 minutes kicking some leather in to a net.. You just pay to see the latter...

Not making it into top flight football is no bad thing, when you consider how we are still a succesful business with a dedicated following, playing a good standard of football, without all the added bullsh*t and hype of the top flight clubs..

If you seriously think Plymouth=Man Utd in terms of footballing excellence then you obviously haven't watched much football.

Until you get relegated again and the "loyal fans" go back to Man United. It's not so long ago there were only 3,000 at Gnome Park. Up the Gillingham/Forest/Stockport.

Boxing Day 94 will happen again.

And I take it you don't understand what "Playing a good standard of football" means either...

Well done to Arsenal, they beat Crystal Palace, and Henry is now in fantastic form, 2 games after scoring his first goal in something like 10. How fickle.

Anyway, pleased about our win over Citeh, James fouls up again.

Sounds like Henry is getting his good form in against the lesser sides before the inevitable European KO with Henry going back to being anonymous again.
