Thanks for the encouragement fellas! :)

2nd Test - Zimbabwe in NZ 2010 (after Day One)

Zimbabwe won the toss and put NZ in under cloudy conditions.
Early wickets fell and NZ never recovered, being dismissed for a paltry total. :-O
The NZ bowlers claimed one Zimbabwe wicket before stumps, but Day Two is already looming as crucial!

Advice Graham: Pick more bowlers. You have 2 medium pacers, one of whom is part time plus Franklin who I usually use as second change and a debut spinner.

Just my opinion, is all ;)

2nd Test - Zimbabwe in NZ 2010 (after Day Two)

Zimbabwe ended Day Two on top and NZ will need a big second innings batting effort to stay in this, the deciding test! :-O

2nd Test - Zimbabwe in NZ 2010 (after Day Three)

A dogged effort from Michael Papps led the NZ fightback on Day Three.
Papps was felled twice by the Zimbabwean pacers as bounce deteriorated, but recovered on both occasions to continue.
At the end of Day Three, the deciding test is again in the balance! :)

2nd Test - Zimbabwe in NZ 2010 (after Day Four)

After Papps and Treanor fell early, it was left to Jesse Ryder and Jacob Oram to get NZ out of danger.
When O'Brien went at 404/9, Oram was on 98no and was joined by Aimson whose test batting average was 0!
A record unbeaten last wicket partnership of 86 enabled NZ to declare at the end of the day's play, leaving Zimbabwe 331 to chase for victory on the final day! 8-)

2nd Test - Zimbabwe in NZ 2010 (NZ claim the series win)

Iain O'Brien and James Franklin knocked the top of the Zimbabwean top order during the morning session and with Oram and Aimson also claiming a wicket each, 5 wickets fell before lunch.

It was highly unlikely that the visitors would recover from this disastrous start, but Liebenburg led some stern resistance into the afternoon session.

The tea score was 188/8 and the second new ball just after tea saw the demise of the tail.
A great comeback win for the NZ lads! :)

Good stuff :)

I wish test series got randomized in ICC. It's pretty annoying playing as Bangladesh and getting 2 tests and 3 ODI's all the time. Same thing for NZ really. Except NZ sometimes gets 3 matches...

Argh - nothing but bugs thus far!

Has anyone else had a problem when you are playing "International only" as New Zealand and the game freezes at the end of the 2005/06 season? The game ticks over to 31 March 2006, and then I have a screen which says "Welcome to the 2006 season" with a "Please wait" window - I'm sure I could get screenies.

I have tried on both easy and normal settings and I am getting the same error message in both places.

Any ideas?

NZ squad for the ODI series v Zimbabwe (2010)

With another World Cup not too far off, I decided to try out as much youth as possible during the OD series against Zimbabwe, in the hope of discovering some much needed talent! 8-)

Richard Bucknall (24 yrs) and Murray Jagger (21 yrs) joined veteran Stephen Fleming (36 yrs) as the openers in the squad.
Bucknall is far and away the top OD batsman on the domestic scene, but has not produced the goods at international level to date.
Jagger has had more success with the limited opportunities he's had.
Fleming of course has been a proven performer and will be a good mentor for the youngsters.

Captain Peter Fulton (31 yrs) is joined in the squad by fellow batsmen Simon Treanor (22 yrs), Jesse Ryder (25 yrs), Brendon Diamante (28 yrs) and Jeff Tyson (25 yrs).
Fulton and Ryder have been regulars for a while now without setting the world on fire.
Diamante has been a consistently good performer on the domestic scene, but has failed to step up at international level to date despite several opportunities.
Much is expected from Treanor. It will be interesting to see if he can deliver. :)
Tyson will be making his debut at international level.

Matthew Sinclair (34 yrs) and Colin Hampton (23 yrs) cover the keeping spots.
Sinclair is in the twilight of his career and his recent form has been disappointing. However I like to have the option of a batsman/keeper in case the batting needs shoring up.
Hampton has had a disastrous start to his ODI career, but is given another chance to prove himself.

Four allrounders have been selected - Jacob Oram (31 yrs), Kyle Mills (30 yrs), Scotty Styris (34 yrs) and youngster Ian Henry (21 yrs).
Oram is a proven performer and consistent.
Mills and Styris have solid records.
Henry has burst onto the scene and is seen as one of NZ's stars of the future. As a left arm fast bowler, the main concern will be his control and runs conceded.

Andrew Aimson (21 yrs) gets the spinner's spot in the squad. His progress to date has been very exciting.
Iain O'Brien (33 yrs), Chris Benson (20 yrs) and Mark Birch (25 yrs) are the specialist pacemen.
O'Brien is miserly and consistent.
Benson and Birch are the hopes of the furure and need exposure at the highest level in order to develop quickly.

Hopefully his cricket ability is equal or better than his great uncle's music talent

The OD series against the Zims started with a hard fought game, but the NZ side went from strength to strength as it took the clean sweep! :)

Whilst opening batsman Richard Bucknall again failed to deliver, batsman Simon Treanor, pace bowlers Chris Benton and Mark Birch and spinner Andrew Aimson performed very well.
Centuries to Fleming and Ryder along with good form with the bat from Diamante, Tyson and Henry were the icing on the cake.
Even Styris chimed in with a bagful in the final match.
