NZ domestic season 2023/24

The Hutt Rec

International Vice-Captain
Rutherford critical of Otago and their inability to hold on to players. I think they have a pretty good batting line up now, but losing Rae and Smith has left their pace attack a bit underwhelming. They did well at the under 19 tournament so must be doing some things right.

The amount of talent they’ve lost over the years is pretty crazy, I always feel bad for them on that front. There must be something not quite right, because Dunedin is a great place to live. I often think about escaping Wellington and heading back down there.

Does he mention how his son has been hopeless for two years and is part of the apathy at that province? He 100% shouldn't be in that side.

It did seem a bit awkward he's putting the boot in to the side when his son has been captain/senior player there. Not sure what's happened to his form.

I think his email was prompted by an interview with Russell Mawhinney the new chair of Otago Cricket about the future of the province.

Wellington's weather is cruelly thwarting my plans for unwinding with some Christmas Eve cricket. :( The women's game was a complete washout, and the men's isn't looking any better as yet.

Inclement festive season weather spoiling my hopes of enjoying some Boxing Day Super Smash action. Hopefully it's OK in Hawkes Bay tomorrow, I'm hoping to get along.

That's a pretty impressive score. Wish someone else had been on the receiving end instead of Wagner and Fisher, though.

I dunno, he did really well today. Got 7, and even scored a boundary. Meanwhile Ollie White is out lapping on 0 (6), and Otago are 17–6.
