On the "more bad news for the Broncs" front, I see Webcke has now picked up a grade 2 medial ligament injury in his knee. Handy timing.

still not enough to panic, we are still going to get a home final and none of the teams in the bottom half of the 8 will scare us week 1, the very worst i see brisbane doing is a preliminary final and its anyones comp from there...

IMO Cowboys and Storm could give you a run for your money but you should beat either of those sides really.

neither of those sides are in good form, cowboys struggled to beat a depleted raiders and were second best for most of the match. Melbourne are hot and cold i dont think they will trouble anyone in the finals. If we can maintain a top 2 spot we will get sharks or manly, both we will beat no matter how bad we are playing...

The Warriors can't get the wooden spoon. They have a bye between now and the end of the regular season

I think it's time Brisbane got a new coach, or at least put the current coach on notice.

It's not just the last three weeks. It's a trend:

* Start the season magnificently;
* peak in May;
* get through Origin;
* then totally fail to lift a gear - or show any sign of inventiveness - and, as a result stumble into the finals;
* get drummed out of the finals, without even looking like threatening.

It's a trend that stretches back to 2003.

That people want Bennett replaced, shouldn't be taken as disrespecting/disregarding his great coaching record. It's just that - whether it's politics, business or sport - everyone's time comes, and everyone's era passes.

As I say, it's not about the last three weeks, but about a trend, and, moreover, the lack of ideas/inventiveness/an original game plan, to break that trend. Watching Brisbane, there is no game plan. It's one-out forward hit ups, and then spread it wide and hope for the best.

Having said that, before even looking at the coaching staff, I think some of the players need to be subjected to some scrutiny.

its not bennett's fault that our attack is as crap as canberra's atm, 6 weeks ago he had the ideas and for the previous 17 years he has had the ideas, the trend of us struggling this time of year certainly needs to be addressed but if anyone is gonna sort it out it will be wayne bennett...

I think he's bereft of ideas, myself. I thought the same in his last year when he was Origin coach in 2003, when Phil Gould ran rings around him. I mean, other teams step on the gas this time of year, and Brisbane is invariably left in their wake. They just don't lift/adapt. One of our main problems is that he has this idea that you can pick a monster pack; have them rumble it up, one-out, and just win the game off the back of that. The game has changed. You need athleticism in your forwards - not big boppers, who the opposition moves around the field and tires out.

i agree in that we are too one dimentional at the moment, but i dont think thats wayne bennett's fault, i suspect the players arent sticking to the game plan...
one problem i have is the continual selection of Dane Carlaw over Sam Thaiday and the fact Costigan gives away more penalties than hes entitled to, as a whole we arent that far away and if we sort out a few minor problems we are very much contenders...

For sure, I agree that some of the selections have been puzzling.

In 1994, late in the season with the Broncos barely clinging to a finals hope, Bennett finally had a gutful and dropped Lazarus, Matterson and Hancock for the second last round game against 3rd placed Norths at North Sydney Oval. Broncos then snapped their slump and won 17-0. I wish he would show some of that ruthlessness and dump guys like Berrigan, Carlaw, and even Tony Carroll, who is having no impact. Things need to be shaken up - there are something like (and also in 2003 and 2004) 8 internationals, and another 3 or 4 who have played Origin. We've had the best roster in the NRL, and yet the joint, in my opinion, is in one big comfort zone.

Berrigan? i wouldnt drop him but id move him to the bench...
Tate and Hodges have both looked dangerous in the centres while berro has been living off lockyer's magic for the past few months...
Carlaw is just crap, he has to go, please i never want to see him again...
