What do you guys think of the nrl this year.
Does everyone else think that defence has fallen off a bit from last year?
Tries seem to be coming easy. I'm not enjoying the matches as much as last year either. Maybe its just cause its early season.
It is a combination of early in the season, key forwards injured and slight changes in the rules IMO.

Poor old Wendall..yeah I'd want to get out of that hopeless Reds team too. I don't know if he'll be feared as much in league as he was previously though.
I can't believe Australia got another franchise at Perth when the Reds are in such dissaray..and don't get me started on another South African team.

Not that I really want Mundine at the Warriors, but they will definately be able to pay him big bucks if Jones leaves.
But won't they want a halfback or are they covered in that position?

Well the Warriors are screwed if they think Hohaia is going to take over halfback.

The best option would be to play Mundine at 5/8, Fien at halfback & play Latu at hooker..he looks like a decent player.

The Warriors said they wanted to stay out of trouble this season...I think they're heading back into the eye of the storm if you ask me.

I think the warriors need to get back to playing attacking rugby, enjoy themselves and for a week forget about the basics. Well maybe not forget, but you know what i mean. In 2002 and 2003 the warriors looked to be enjoying it, they don't now.

There's a big difference, yes.

Players like Villasanti, Guttenbeil etc are almost non-existent now..they hardly break the line or do anything good.
Jones looks like he's just happy to see out his contract and then either retire or make more money overseas.

The backs hardly look to go wide anymore. Watching players like Toopi and Webb, they used to back themselves to beat their marker..but now they're just happy to run it up & get tackled.
Meli is costing the Warriors a try every game just through poor ball security in his own 20 & Jerome Ropati ain't too far behind him.

They need to get rid of Mick Watson, he's an idiot if you ask me...too much greed & other business ventures going on behind the scenes.

mundine wants to play for a good side tim, so warriors are no chance....
im starting to lean towards CC as the spot for the 16th team, GC just lacks something imo...

There's no point ribbing me about the Warriors. I couldn't care less. I really couldn't care if Mundine plays for us or not.
But the signs are that the Warriors are shipping out Jones for a reason..I highly doubt they would dump him if they didn't have someone else lined up to play.

Then again...this is the Warriors we're talking about. If they were prepared to drop Lau'ititi..then I guess they could do the same to Jones.

Agree about mick watson, tim.
He is ruining the warrioirs.
The warriors are wasting allt heir talents by using this stuoid gameplan where they don't attack at all.
they are clueless when getting near the opposition's line. And are focusing too much on basic hit it up league. This isn't their strenght, any team in the nrl can do and most can do it better, the warriors strngth is to use the unique offloading abilities and play a risky game.

Ah, I think i'd rather see a Gold Coast team. Well i'd really prefer to see one back in Perth, but that aint gonna happen

Yeah, I thought it was a bit silly of the NRL to market themselves as the National Rugby League and then get rid of Perth & Adelaide. I used to love the Adelaide Rams.

Well I say if they decide against a Western team, which they will, they should re-name themselves the ERL.

There is no bid for a Western team. The bids have come from Gold Coast, Central Coast & Wellington. I don't know if the info is different down near where Simon lives, but the word up here is that Central Coast have all but pulled out, so Gold Coast is the only real option.

the info i have is that the Central Coasts' bid is as strong as ever, but on the other hand, my info also says that the nrl, news limited and the networks will all agree to keep the comp at 15 teams again...

I'd heard that Singo had all but withdrawn his backing of the franchise because of the time it was taking to make the decision. It will more than likely cripple the Gold Coast bid if there is no admittance in 2006.
