Yeah, its not like we're short on options in the backs. Bennett has said that Bott is a futre centre too and Micheals looks like a gun. I hope he's a Qld because that's one position we are short on in the future, especially with Bott wanting to pull on the Blues' jersey.

well he played for Queensland under 19's this year so i think hes a goer!
but yeh Michaels has looked tops. It brings a smile to my face knowing how good the future is going to be. We r top of the table with three 18 year olds, then other young guys like Stagg, Thaiday, Costigan, Tate, Seymour, Learoyd etc.... all there, its a very good decade coming up imo...

Yeah, couldn't agree more, I just hope we get new Qld selectors so they don't all get picked for Qld and up goes their prices and we can't keep them under the salary cap.

Learoyd is a blue, so we dont have to worry about him, but the others could be tougher. Seymour has Thurston and Prince in front of him and probably Tim Smith in coming seasons, so he may not play much origin if any (despite the fact hes my new favourite player). Stagg, Thaiday, Costigan and Michaels will be origin certainties imo.

on top of those guys we still have young guys like Corey Parker and Dane Carlaw. also Darren Smith still has 6 or 7 good years left in him..

Yeah, most of those guys will play origin, Carlaw should never again, but he must have saved Gene Miles' life or something. Parker wants to be a Bronco for life, so I don't think we'll lose him.

Carlaw is a funny sort of player, i always loved the comment about him "Built like Tarzan, plays like Jane." he has patches where he runs like the best backrower in the comp and really is a handful, but then others he goes completely MIA. he only made something like 2 or 3 hitups in his 40 minutes in origin. most disapointing.

Therefore he is too much of a liability at Origin level. If we are unsure of who is going to turn up on the night, Tarzan or Jane then it would be much more useful for us. If we lose this series the selectors have to go - they've done far too much wrong for far too long.

what about Hagan? he has to go as well, i hear Matt Elliott would be interested in the qld coaching gig, i just hope he doesnt bring the raiders attacking ideas with him...

Mal Meninga would be my choice. He got a raw deal at Canberra, and the way Qld City crushed Qld Country on the weekend proved to me he could be the ideal coach for Qld. He had less than a week with the guys and they played like a team that had been together all season. Craig Bellamy has also been tipped for the job, but he coached NSW Country this year, so I don't know how likely that is.

But the selectors have made very poor choices over the last 3 years, they should be the first to go.

Disagree, I think Head is a better player, but I'm not saying Firman isn't a good player. Wonder if Thurston will move back to 5/8 and Firman to halfback, or whether they'll just play Firman at 5/8.

Cowboys missed Hannay on the weekend I thought. His attacking ability is under-rated IMO.

After a game or two in the QLD cup FIrman should slot straight into the No. 7 jersey. Thurston (the best player in the world) will move to his preferred position of 5/8 and this will be a lethal combination. Yes that's right, lethal...Smith and Morris, look out.

Yeah, I think they have this thing in North Queensland that if your name is Bowen (no matter how good or **** you are) you are some kind of rugby league God!
