New Zealand Off Season 2014

Aaron Finch.

Quite right. If a guy like Finch, who has played all around the world, faced all these 'bowlers' and probably faced Williamson many times in the nets doesn't think he throws it then well......
Finch said that? Finch isn't county team-mates with any of these other 'bowlers', therefore isn't as likely to need or want to back them. Most players would tell you Valerie Adams threw with a straight arm if she was a team-mate.

So because he's a teammate (for all of five minutes might I add) it's expected of him to say something like this? If that's the case where are the other 20 odd players Williamson plays cricket with. It sounds like to me that Finch is just sick of the double standards around world cricket at the moment. Why go after Williamson but not the majority of others?

Kane biffs it. Senanayake biffs it. Shillingford biffed it. Ajmal doesn't biff it. Get over it ffs.

I've heard he's decent with the bat so he might hold his place in the team.

Finch is blowing it out his ass.

It's been well known for a number of seasons that if Williamson ever got investigated, he'd be found to be chucking the ball. We've joked about it for a number of years also. It was also only a matter of weeks since Senanyake was banned and only a matter of months that Shillingford had to undertake remedial action.

Most people seem butt hurt about Muralitharan, but the guy is long since retired - so who really gives a ****?

And in the case of Ajmal, he's undergone a tonne of testing - probably as much as Muralitharan and has never been pulled up, as far as I'm aware they recently tested both his Doosra and his Teesra and found it to be acceptable under the rules of Cricket. This is even considering the fact that the BCCI instigated him being tested after the Indian team made a complaint in about 2012.

As part of the biomechanics they conduct, they do test the amount of revolutions on the ball - so the idea that some bowlers just hold back from chucking and not give it the full tweak is wrong also. It just reaks of people not understanding how the testing is conducted.

Glen McGrath would have had more than 15 degrees flex in his elbow through delivery, Kyle Mills too, probably Morne Morkel. Unless they start instituting smart sensors in game and testing actions as they happen, this will not resolve itself.

You watch enough sport to know that's what team-mates/acquaintances do. In fact you're doing it right now, ironically enough, from a fan's perspective. I'm not sure you'd be backing Kane Ratnayeke so strongly, or even Roneel Hira.

The other 20-odd people are just simply not bothered to stand outside the newspaper HQs or phone them to express their views, or haven't been contacted yet. Finch was obviously doing an interview and it came up. I can hazard a guess that if he was at Worcester, he'd defend Ajmal. If he was in Narine's IPL/CPL team, he'd do so as well. I'd be interested to see the quotes actually

Your point on Narine, Murali etc has legs but I'm of the belief Kane doesn't. His action has smelled for years but it's taken enough exposure at international level to finally have it acted upon.

It's Kane -- he'll spend 90 minutes a day trying to fix his action on top of his usual two hour batting stints.

If even half of what is said about his training is true, he's the most dedicated player since Mike Hussey.

Twitter. He wasn't asked etc, just threw the comment out there.

Yeah okay just seen that, he's obviously got a strong feeling that others chuck it. He's just played against Ajmal in the ROW game, maybe it's him.

But still, he's not saying Kane doesn't throw it.

"China and India are massively corrupt and massive polluters, so until they lead the world in a new direction, why not engage in petty corruption and pollution of your own?"

"Nah, "no noble thoughts brought us to these islands, but through it all, we have risen above". Surely there's no harm in acknowledging the issue and sending Narine and Cooper in".

"Mugs".

I guess the only problem with sending guys to be tested prior to international debuts is a lack of quality footage to compare actions to -- until you hit the international level, you're not regularly being filmed in match conditions from a variety of actions, so validating that they're using the same actions in the tests compared to in games is a lot harder.

Not suggesting for a second that Cooper or Narine were doing that, but it makes pre-emptive testing slightly more complicated.

Caribbean Premier League 2014 : Bravo hails Ross Taylor's influence | Cricket News | Caribbean Premier League | ESPN Cricinfo
Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel captain Dwayne Bravo has hailed the foreign contingent of his team as one of the main reasons behind their drive this year in the CPL. Bravo lauded Ross Taylor and Kevin O'Brien, who recently set a CPL record for the tournament's highest-ever partnership, as players whose influence builds the vibe of unity he wants cultivated in the squad.

Bravo said he recognised this with both players last year and that despite not winning the inaugural edition, he desperately wanted to retain them as he sees the duo as ideal role models, on and off the field, for young players. He expressed confidence in both due to their international experience and deemed them essential to bringing 'a sense of brotherhood and camaraderie' to the locker-room. Bravo said their form also showed Red Steel are better equipped to mount a challenge this time around and that the batsmen were eager to shoulder the pressures of the franchise.

"Ross is one of the best players in the game," Bravo said. "We've seen it over the last couple years with New Zealand in various formats and even in the last CPL. He brings great depth and leadership to the team and it's something I very much welcome."

Bravo pointed to the developing Nicolas Pooran as a player who Taylor, much like himself, has taken a keen interest in, as both see him as a future star, despite recent stumbling blocks. Bravo mentioned Taylor's practical approach in mentoring players on the field as he dubbed him 'more than a vice-captain'. He added that the sense of familiarity with Taylor was also crucial, having played with and against the New Zealander frequently.

Bravo singled out O'Brien as someone he trusted to score the runs this year. "We all know what he's capable of and he's showing it," Bravo said. "Last year he did it also. Our batting is more assured with him, Ross and my brother [Darren Bravo] all settled now. We feel very comfortable together."

With the debacle over the Red Steel's franchise name sorted, the all-rounder added it was good to put that drama to bed and re-focus on the cricket. He said he was also elated to be returning to form following a shoulder injury that kept him out of most of the 2014 IPL and all of the recent New Zealand series.

"I'm feeling much better now and I'm ready to deliver," he said. "I know last year in the CPL, I got some stick for my death bowling but this year we're playing much better cricket and enjoying it. With guys like Ross and Kevin at the helm with me, I think we have the right blend of youth and experience."
But I thought he swore at players and made them feel unwanted?

Domestic contracts are out tomorrow,
Below is a list of the 2013-14 squads and definite moves that have been announced, in square brackets I have put my speculation of other moves that could happen.e, Mathieson, Nethula,

Otago
Beard, M. Bracewell, N. Broom, Butler, Craig, D. de Boorder, Duffy, McMillian, Neesham, Redmond, Robertson, Ryder, Soper, Wells
IN: Rutherford, Friday, [Rodden]
OUT: N. Broom, Craig, Neesham, Butler
Redmond and McMillan might be a tad iffy. I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryan Duffy get a contract. As for the 14th, maybe Seifert, or another seamer from out of Otago?

Will Soper get a contract?

Think I read somewhere that he's just had an operation on his shoulder and is out for 6 months or so.
