Yes he did field for England, it happened a few times in the early days:)
Cheers, I actually didn't know that.
This was still a regular occurrence in County Cricket in the 1970's and 80's. I remember Mike Proctor being dropped an absolute sitter by his team mate Jim Foat in a vital County match. Foat was a top class fielder who normally dropped nothing when fielding for his own team.

I don't remember Mr Foat tbh, but there is something lost in the fact that they no longer do things like this:)

Maybe JF is the reason:unsure:

Well, I'm pretty sure they were all Wisden Cricketers of the Year, but that's probably too obvious...

Is it anything to do with the Ashes Urn?

I believe tradition has it that after 10 questions a hint is given .........

In the case of each of the gents concerned what they have in common was done after, but within months of, their retirement from the First Class game

Fred...did they all write autobiographies that were bestsellers in the non-fiction lists of their respective countries (published shortly after each of them retired)?

Possibly but that's not the answer I'm after - and Vaughan's has only just come out in the last few days :)

So just to clarify these 3 men all wrote a book shortly after their retirement from FC cricket. We're trying to discover what is unique about that?

Anything to do with the title?
