Cantrell it is. Took two catches as sub in the 1990-91 Brisbane Test and later represented Holland. Easy one to Mr Z.

Okay. I will take this one Z. Hope you dont mind.

Who said?

'Slow bowling was my forte. I am perhaps the slowest bowler the game has ever seen.'

He went on to describe his pace as so slow that he could rush forward to retrieve the ball in mid-air if he discovered he had made some fundamental mistake in its launching. Bowling one day on his home ground he launched his customary leg-break, and on examining it critically he exclaimed,"MY God, he's out."

He then proceeded to sit down at the crease, he said, to watch as the delivery made its way up the wicket, evaded the bat, and leant up against the off stump, gently removing just one bail.

Huh! I knew that, not my fault I wasn't on here at 3:30 this morning. Anyway, after 14 hours, with the thread in danger of slipping off the first page, I'll step in ...

Two of my hundreds were firsts. But first what? And who the hell am I?

Banermann?

No.

This is quite a tough one, because the player in question isn't particularly well known, so there will be more clues - keep going though. :)

Damn!!! Knew I shouldn't have asked - I had a correct answer till you said that!

Were the two hundreds scored in the same match?

No ... in different matches. But they were both notable for the same reason. Like I said they were both 'firsts.'

Couple more clues for you:

He played all his cricket between the Wars.

And only made one Test hundred.

Not Sandham, no.

Not a wicket-keeper; he did play more than five Tests, and he took one wicket, at very small cost. That was also his only first-class wicket.

Big clue: He had no opportunity to watch Test cricket in his homeland for the last twelve years of his life.

Well that makes it Jack Siedle who appears to have scored the first centuries on turf pitches in Currie Cup and then Test Cricket
