Holder of several records for his country !! Subsequently became even more successful !!Who is he ? What are the records ? What was the later life ?

Q 1 Is he from the subcontinent ? No
Q 2 Was he later successful in Television ? No
Q 3 Did the latter success come in cricket as well ? No.
Q 4 Is he from England ? No
Q 5 Is he from Australia ? Yes
Q 6 Did his success have to do with politics ? No
Q 7 Did he become a businessman or politician ? Yes
Q 8 Did he play for Australia in Test cricket ? Yes
Q 9 Did he begin playing for Australia after WW2 ? Yes .

Hint 1 - It was at a barren period in Australian Cricket History !! (of which there were not many) ;) ;) (Barren periods usually occur when several players retire or are lost to the game and the team goes into transition)

Q 10 Did he play for Australia during the 80s ? No
Q 11 Did he play during the 70's ? No
