New Cricket Trivia - 'SJS format'

Was it a non competitive (non serious) match ?

I think it was a local amateur team which played in minor tournaments.

Forget about the team for a while and find X,Y and Z first. One of the three is obvious once you guess their field.

As an aside Sir Alec Douglas-Home (ex-British PM) was a huge cricketing fan, he once said,

"I can never walk through an orchard without wondering if it would take a bit of turn." :)

Y is very easy. His most famous wicket was that of W.G.Grace.(I've asked a question about this bit of trivia before)

Hint for X: The main character in his book has the initials PP.

X was a left-arm spinner who said "I bowl so slowly that if I dont like a ball I can run down the wicket and bring it back." He later wrote a book with the same title as the team name and a 1950 reprint contained a foreword by Bradman.

Q11) Is "X" JM Barrie? YES

Was that a guess? If it was it was a brilliant one. The team name btw was 'Allahackbarries' a pun on 'Allahuakbar'.

I'd love to take the credit, but after the WG Grace clue I put in "Conan Doyle cricket team" in Google & it brought up loadsa cricket-mad authors. Samuel Beckett woulda been my next guess! :)

Ok, my go?

Who is this player (peasey!) & what cricketing record does he hold?
